How does it feel to be overweight?

NC for this.
Up until recently, my size never really bothered me. But now DD is in nursery and seeing other mums at nursery looking much skinnier than me it's starting to make me feel very conscious. I also noticed whilst eating in the local supermarket cafe a bunch of kids looking at and sniggering at me.. Its like fat people aren't allowed in restaurants.
Do any of you who are larger sized feel silent judgement from others? It was worse when I was pregnant, a fat pregnant lady is so frowned upon. I remember people offering me seats on trains through clenched Jaws and probably thinking "fat cow" will we ever get away from this judgement?

No because people are arseholes. However, it isn't just overweight people judged. Just look at the world today and you'll see judgment everywhere. Like I said, people at arseholes.

Not so much judged, as invisible really. I just don't register with people.

Inside, I feel self-loathing, to the outside world then I agree with pp in that I am invisible

I never noticed it, but them I lost a lot of weight (70lbs) over a year ago now. People treat me very differently-especially men. It took me a while to realise why. I'm exactly the same person, with all the same thoughts, feelings and opinions. Now that I'm slimmer I apparently have more value to society.

It's a real eye opener, and incredibly upsetting.

BeyondMyWits · 01/10/2020 20:05

I don't care, I value the invisibility it gives me. People judge EVERYBODY, that is one thing I have realised in my 56 years. I'd rather be judged on being the old fat woman than the mean one, or the bad parent, or the gossip...

EternalOptimist7 · 01/10/2020 20:06

I’m so angry & upset on your behalf OP - how dare those kids snigger at you! There’s something fundamentally wrong with our society😢

troppibambini · 01/10/2020 20:07

I was always slim. Then after I had my 3rd and 4th baby very close together I struggled to lose the 3 stone I had to lose. The baby is 6 now and the weight is still here. I'm really trying to lose it.
I hate myself, I struggle to look in mirrors and dh no longer finds me attractive which makes me really sad which make me eat, vicious circle really.....

OP this has nothing to do with your weight. I'm fairly average size and had a huge obvious bump.... passengers on the train HATED giving up their seats. I commutes until my due date. Actually fainted on someone once after they'd refused my request for a seat Smile.

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Do you want to lose weight or are you happy with your weight? If so then chin up, shoulders back and walk proudly.

The one thing I never do is eat in public. When you're overweight, people look at your like you're tucking into a steaming turd if you so much as suck a cough drop, let alone actually eat something...
