Letter possibly threatening bailiffs to dead person. What to do?

We received a hand addesssed letter with no company address on envelope to previous owner of our house. He's been dead for years. The letter claims to be from a property services for lock up type arrangement and states that they will need to 'rectify payment' if he doesn't pay the money what he owes them.
I shouldn't have opened the letter but I was concerned about what the content says might haven't, rightly so. I am worried that bailiffs might be sent here, and paranoid as we have just been burgled.
So bearing m in mind that I shouldn't have opened the letter' what should I do next?

Either return post if you can find an address or call.
He's dead thats that.

Are there any contact details? Just telephone them & say he's deceased.

Say you opened it in error, noticed it addressed to the deceased previous owner.

Assuming that there's an address on the inside of the letter, copy it onto the outside of the letter and add 'return to sender, addressee deceased' and stick it in the post box.

If any bailiffs show up, just tell them that this person doesn't live there any more. Show them ID if necessary. They will go away.

I would contact them with when they died and who the executors of the estate were (if you know who this was).

This must be so unsettling to get through your door but rectify payment would probably mean selling the contents of the locker, they wouldn't be able to come to you for payment.

We had one recently, handwritten front. I opened it because the lady in question (although not deceased) moved out around 8 years ago.

We have tons of letters for her... constantly Hmm

I called the form on the letterhead inside and explained and we haven't heard from them since.

Just open it and email/call them.
I moved in recently and was receiving a lot of letters for the previous tenant. They all looked the same, so I opened one (it was from a collections company) and I emailed the costumer services and they were brilliant. I said I could provide proof of my tenancy if needed.
