Would you travel (in the UK) in October half-term?

Just that really, would love a change of scene but don't know if its wise at this stage. In terms of money it seems that lots of places will refund cancellations up to fairly last minute but I don't know if it would be selfish to travel to another part of the country at the moment.

Thanks for your thoughts, I thought there might be a resounding 'no', so am relieved I'm not the only one considering it. I spent a fair amount in school and on public transport in my every day so in some ways being in one place around less people would be lower riskSmile

I hadn't considered it as I can't normally travel in the school holidays, but I'm thinking I'll be able to this year.

I'm also vulnerable & risk averse, but the idea of being somewhere in the coast with an open fire/log burner is hugely appealing.

Maybe if someone has a very good Covid (cleaning) policy. I'd be travelling from a low risk area & only going to a low risk area. I would be doing anything inside (other than the accommodation, obviously) & i'd be self catering.

Maybe I just need to move house 🤣

I’m not bothering. I’m desperate for a holiday but I just can’t see the point in booking anything at the moment. I think we’re heading into lockdowns and restrictions all over the place, so it would probably just end in more disappointment. We’ll just hunker down here - we live in a national park anyway, so it’s pretty pleasant.

We have booked a couple of nights away in half term , which will be lovely if it happens, but not the end of the world if it doesn't.

I booked our Oct HT break back in July once I realised that there was very little availability left for the summer holidays and we didn't fancy paying over the odds for the little that was left.

I have checked that we would definitely get a refund if there are more restrictions/local lockdown and all we would lose is the £30 booking fee which I can cope with. (Still have AirBNB credit to spend/lose from our summer holiday cancellation).

We have a week booked in Cornwall, desperately hoping we can go. We will be surfing, walking and hanging round the cottage reading, watching Netflix and playing board games. Zero need to do anything else.

Just to add that we don’t normally holiday in the UK, let alone at Oct HT and to locations we can do on a day trip so our behaviour has definitely adapted to the circumstances. The need to stare at a different set of walls is a growing new priority. Even if the weather is atrocious, I’m happy to stare at the sea out of the window even if I don’t want to be outside walking in a gale.
