How are your toddlers finding classes like dance and Hartbeeps etc if they've restarted?

Understandably very different from before - need to stay on own mats and not move around room or interact with other children etc

We've done two classes from different franchises and they've done very well to be as Covid safe as possible but it's just not the same as I think the elements DD really enjoyed the most aren't really there (children moving round the room and doing moves together, even stuff like putting the toys away together) and in a large spread out area she doesn't really seem to realise she's supposed to engage with the leaders and follow their actions on her mat

She's been so good at staying on her mat and not moving about the room and likes looking at the activity items that are put out ready for each thing but otherwise doesn't participate at all

Not a complaint, obviously far bigger concerns for all of us and also think the class leaders are doing a great job but just wondering if anyone has found their toddler has adjusted and started to participate rather than just looking a little disappointed? I'm as encouraging as I can be but secretly feel a little sad for her! We'll continue to support them if she seems to enjoy it a bit but would be reassuring to hear if other toddlers got into the swing of it in new format. DD 2 and a half

My toddlers a bit younger than yours but we’re struggling a bit with our classes. Covid security has sucked the joy out of them really. Mine struggles to stay on the mat and as they can’t share toys he quickly bores of what’s been left on his mat. Unsure how long we’ll continue for

Hello- I work in this industry and own a franchise. All this is a nightmare for us. All I can say is any support from customers is enormously appreciated- I suspect most of us won’t last the winter so please keep going if you can to the ones your kids enjoy the most because frankly, very soon there won’t be many of us still trading.

CampCretaceous · 26/09/2020 12:20

@Frazzled2207 I'm so sorry. It must be absolutely impossible for you. We're going to continue to support for as long as DD at least enjoys looking at the items or what have you and I hope she gets into the swing of it too! Also did the online classes although really she just ignored them while I did it

I would think for the non mobile babies it's very similar to before though and just as worth it (although I heard sensory are not doing the free play which is sad but I appreciate necessary)

We do a music class, but it was always a mostly stay on your mat class without lots of running around.
They all get their own bag of instruments and props which they like.

My daughter is 22 months and really struggles to stay on the mat and also not touch anything. She's too young to understand so it's really hard. We will preserve as she really missed social interaction (she's an only child) so hopefully the positives outweigh the negatives soon

It is hard isn't it... I think mine remembers it as it was before and said "yeah Hartbeeps!" before we went but was noticeably disappointed when it was totally different

I did explain we'd need to stay on the mat and it would still be really fun blah blah resilience but it is a bit hard to explain to a toddler!
