My arse! Well arse cheeks. I need help! (Pic included - sorry)

Will start by saying I've name changed for very obvious reasons.

My arse is killing me. History here is a whole lot of emergency spinal surgery 10 months ago. Spinal cord damage but able to hobble and move around to a certain degree. Had a turbulent 10 months but I'm not in any one position all the time as I'm never comfortable so have to move.

First issue came out of the blue about 6 weeks ago and was diagnosed as a pressure sore. Took 4 weeks to heal. This was on my right arse cheek and is the larger dark patch on the pic. Started 2 days ago with a sore patch on the opposite side which just keeps getting worse. Also had a pea like lump which turned in to a blister last night and is now starting to look like the start of a sore at the base of my spine.

I don't think this is pressure. The doctors no longer think this is pressure but are not sure what it is. All I can tell you is I'm in agony with my left arse cheek even with barrier cream and proper dressings. If we take pressure sores/ulcers out of the equation has anyone any idea of what this could be?

For full disclosure I'm 40, overweight and can't believe I'm typing this whilst lay on my front in bed. 9pm Friday should be wine time!!

Any help or suggestions would be hugely appreciate.. the pain is awful!!

This was the original sore that I had 6 weeks ago that they thought was a pressure sore. This got bigger over time whilst it was healing and wasn't as sore as the smaller one I have now! What is it!?

That looks painful.
I've no idea what it is.
Maybe you need a referral to a dermatologist?

winterchills · 25/09/2020 21:32

Nurse here, it definitely looks like a pressure sore to me. The other thing we usually see is moisturise damage but that doesn't look like it as it's irregular in shape. Hydrocolloid dressing should help and regular 1-2 hourly repositioning should do the trick. Nasty things they are.

Carer here. I'd say pressure sore too

winterchills · 25/09/2020 22:21

Sorry that meant moisture damage is irregular in shape. Where as pressure is more circular.

I'd say PS too. Use a hydrocolloid dressing, it needs to stay moist to heal ie a scab would make it slower. Eat and drink well and keep moving xx

Thank you for the posts, I will carry on looking after them and see how they go.

Does anyone know how why I would be getting them as I'm not sat down long enough to get them! I'm literally up and down every 20 mins because I'm never comfortable!
