... and I don't know where else to ask it!
It's about weight gain and loss.
I understand how this works long term (the basics of the digestive system at least). What I can't work out is why you don't weigh any more if you weigh yourself immediately after a large meal, before the food has been digested. Say, for example, I weigh 10 stone 0 and eat a 5 lb meal. Why don't I weigh 10 stone 5 straight away afterwards? Or even assuming that some of the food is moving it's way through the system, why don't I weigh any more at all? If I were to hold 5lb of food in my hands while on the scales, I would come up as 10 stone 5. Why doesn't the same apply once it's in my stomach? And, although I'm not in the habit of weighing my poo, I have as an experiment weighed myself immediately before and after a large poo. No difference. Even on the digital scales showing to the nearest gram. Surely my poo weighed something and that weight has now been taken off my total weight, so why doesn't it register?!
Sorry, I know it sounds incredibly idiotic. I just can't work it out.
I'm starting work now at 7.30 so I won't reply for a while, but I'll be back later if there are any replies. Thanks!
