How long before Covid isn’t a thing anymore

Let me expand on my title. When I say covid won’t be a thing anymore, I know it always will be as we all know it’ll just eventually become a seasonal illness like swine flu eventually did ten years ago.

However, what I mean is, when do you think all the hype will die down and when do you think Covid won’t be as serious / deadly anymore?

And when do you see the lockdown being declared officially over and back to complete normality?

Do you think there will ever be a day were it is safe to not social distance and were mask wearing ceases?

As I said, I know Covid will always be a thing, but surely it will get to a point were it isn’t a fatal disease and we all move on and it isn’t mentioned anymore

'Hype'?

AriettyHomily · 25/09/2020 13:46

A year at least

Wouldn't use the word ”hype” though. It is a very real thing. Sad

When we have a vaccine, fingers crossed next summer.

If the recent death rates are to continue going forward, I would say it already isn't deadly or serious enough anymore to warrant our current way of life.,

Probably in about a year, when a successful vaccine can be used or enough herd immunity occurs. But 'total normality' do you mean, no masks, hand sanitiser etc? That may never end. Even if the government see no need to mandate it anymore, some people may choose to, to prevent other infections. They may design things in future with more ventilation and more space for social distancing. They may learn things from this pandemic which may help to mitigate or prevent another pandemic if something else (could be even more serious/deadly) comes along.

Yes, I mean masks, social distancing, hand sanitiser, one way systems and Perspex screens.

Do you think all that will cease?

And yes, I like your point about it preventing future pandemics

When we have a vaccine. Maybe a year’s time.

I hope so.
