crawling! How long does the rocking on all fours stage last?

It feels like it's been weeks! Nine month old DS gets up on all fours constantly and rocks back and forth, can scoot backwards on all fours and can move his legs in the right motions forward but then sort of hilariously collapses as he hasn't worked out he needs to move his arms yet.

I know I'll rue the day I wished for it when he's actually on the move but at this point I'M getting frustrated watching him

He gets so impatient and frustrated he ends up just rolling over and grumbling Grin

If he can scoot backwards then in the next couple of weeks he will be going forwards.

Be grateful he isn't moving forward yet as it is a whole new world of terror.

Yes, agree with above. Grin My DD went from one sided army crawling, which was worrying in itself as I'm concerned about cerebral palsy, to rocking on all fours, to crawling in about 3 weeks. She still prefers the one sided army crawling as it gets her about more quickly and she doesn't fall on her face as much. Grin

I think I may need to clear the playpen a bit so he has more space. The one sided army rolling sounds interesting!
I'll try and make the most of it while he's not scampering around at epic speed but the frustrated complaining is breaking my brain Grin

My LO crawled backwards for 3 whole months before he worked out how to go forwards! The rocking however only went on for a couple of weeks before crawling forwards.

Think yourself lucky. My eldest sat up at 6 months, pulled herself up on the furniture at 6 1/2 months, was walking at 7 months, she was off! Karma bit her on the arse, her son walked at 8 months, couldn't keep the little bugger in one place then!
