I think the poster means beforehand. If you don't know something exists, you don't know to look for it.
Other than the ones mentioned recently in the media and on here, I have absolutely no idea what other words, terms, images or phrases are problematic and have other meanings, subtexts or negative connotations in the USA, and I am not going to try and find out.
Let's be honest, "Things white American racists say that offend black people" is not something people want showing up on their internet search history, is it?
