Cloth sanitary pads

Does such a 1 exist where I could wash them with my regular wash instead of doing a separate wash?

I put them in, do a cold pre-wash that gets the worst out and avoids staining and then a normal wash in with them.

Orangecake123 · 23/09/2020 15:59

I do the same thing. I leave them to soak in cold water first and sometimes add washing powder then just add them to a normal wash later.

I wash mine with my towels

I put mine in with everything else, do a rinse first then wash as normal.

I wonder how it works if you have several teenage daughters as well as yourself using them. I had no problem washing my children's cloth nappies, which some people might consider a bit yuck, but I'm less sure I'd want to wash other people's sanitary towels, even if I was related to them. Or for them to see and wash mine. It seems too private, but maybe I'm being a prude, and would get over it, like I did with nappies.

VirginiaWolverine · 23/09/2020 16:09

I've always washed mine with other stuff. I rinse/soak them first, and just make sure I don't use fabric conditioner.

KitKatastrophe · 23/09/2020 16:11

I wash mine with towels because they also dont need fabric conditioner.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 23/09/2020 16:43

I rinse mine after use, then put in the wash with everything else.

Changethetoner

I know my two sisters wouldn't like this, so I bought them 100% biodegradable sanitary towels from Time of the month to use instead and they have a monthly subscription with free delivery.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 23/09/2020 17:56

@Changethetoner you could get large laundry bags (wilko sell them) each person could put their own towels in their own bag then put them in the wash, no contamination or getting them mixed up.

I just throw mine in the normal wash.

IsAnyoneInAbuDhabi · 23/09/2020 17:57

I just wash mine as normal as well.

Yetiyoga · 23/09/2020 20:56

Thanks all. I may just give that a go! I have a mooncup too but it doesn't catch it all with me!

I'd also suggest trying a pair if period pants to see if they suit. I've been using Modibodi pants recently, and they have been my best sanitary protection ever - the downsides are the price and drying time.

Yetiyoga · 24/09/2020 11:17

Thanks @VirginiaWolverine
I do have cloth pads but haven't used them for a while as it was a pain washing separate. I have also wanted to try the pants too so really good to have a recommendation! Thank you
