Kitchen free meals?

Help! I'm going to be kitchen-less for around 8 weeks and need to think of meals, much as I love a takeaway and a meal out at friends I need to be able to make something at home. I would rather live off toast for the whole 2 months than eat ready meals so they are not an option.

I will have a slow cooker, a microwave and a toastie maker. Please tell me your best recipes for a family of 4 with very limited equipment!

Fruit salads and yogurts for desserts, regular salads and add things like new potatoes, broccoli, eggs etc that you can make in the microwave, smoked salmon, avocado, pouch grains like those offered by Merchant Gourmet and numerous supermarkets that can be eaten hot or cold, sandwiches, enchiladas, tacos, achievable with microwave rice, roasted supermarket chicken that can be eaten hot or cold or even making the chicken in your slow cooker, some soured cream and a quick made salsa, lots of other things you can make in a slow cooker, meats and veggies etc. You can also make things like sushi or summer wraps, the rice can easily be made in the microwave.

Oops saw you were asking for recipes, rather than just foods. Google slow cooker meals, sure there are loads of options.

Can you batch cook some meals now, store in the freezer and then whack them in the microwave when needed?

When we were kitchen less I pretty much ate ready made soups!

Put a whole chicken in slow cooker for 7 hours. Use microwave for jacket potato and veg.

There are loads of slow cooker recipes. Check out BBC Good Food. We’ve made a lovely chicken dish with olives & chorizo. So good & easy to make.

We have a Microwave risotto recipe you can make in the microwave. We managed it with no kitchen (chopping on dining table). It's...

9oz rice, 1 onion, 1 oz butter (cover bowl, microwave on high for 3 minutes)

9 fl oz stock, 500ml Passata (microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes)

Add cherry tomatoes (halved) & 100g mozerella (microwave for 8 minutes on high)

Stir. Leave to stand.
Add 4tbsp parmesan, basil to taste and 1oz of butter.
Stir in and serve.

When we moved, we didn't have a cooker or proper space in kitchen, so some of our favs were couscous and feta salad, falafel wraps, microwave soups, baked sweet potatoes (tuna always a great topping as protein that needs no cooking), super quick tomato sauce (cut cherry toms, heat until very soft, mix in philly - can be used if you want to cook pasta in microwave) and petso and pea noodles (the kind that need only hot water, no pan) or crab and lemon noodles. We have no slow cooker, so can't give much suggestion there.

Hope this helps. xxx

Slow cooker pulled pork? Just bung in a shoulder joint in the morning, two forks for pulling when it's ready, sling over a bottle of bbq sauce and you're done. Could have it in rolls with coleslaw, or over jacket spud or rice. I'm sure there's more complex recipes and ingredients for it, but why make work if you're already kitchenless?

Jacket potato in the microwave. As above, normal stuff like salads, sandwiches etc. Beans in the micro then on toast. Pouches of rice and salmon you can do in the microwave. Slow cooker pork chops with a drop of cider. I'm sure you can do spaghetti bolognaise in the slow cooker.

We've just done this and you end up pretty inventive.

Chillies, thai curries (massaman), slow cooked ragu, lots of recipes out there that can be tweaked for slow cookers, but...

Get yourself a cheap gas camping stove so you have a hob. With that and a slow cooker I barely needed my microwave so was great for browning off meat or spices in a frying pan before throwing in the slow cooker.

You will have a lot more meal options available to you with that, believe me, I was without a working kitchen for 6 months. Didn't even need the microwave with that.

Can you buy a one place induction hob too? That will be very helpful. You can make of it in the future too. In the garden or for a buffet
