Not too scary, not too tricky to follow, possibly funny (but not teen/ American Pie wanking joke type funny). Probably recent rather than a ‘classic’.

@Wigeon

I liked What we did on our holiday more than I thought I would. Funny and bittersweet, and just a good British film.
Worth it for the kids and Billy Connolly alone.

'Judy' is a great movie (about Judy Garland's later life). Rennee Z is great in it. It's not funny of course but it is an easy, entertaining watch. 'Rocket Man' is good too.

I unexpectedly loved What we did on our holidays so much! Very heart warming.

I’d put Captain Fantastic in the same genre, a very gentle story with funny moments.

I also enjoyed Wild with Reece Witherspoon, but it’s not that funny.

We've recently enjoyed

  • the Night at the Museum films
  • Bohemian Rhapsody
  • the Kingsman films

My plan for tonight is Patch Adams after I saw the start of it while wanting something on in the background and found I was enjoying it

Blades of Glory is on Netflix atm and makes me laugh like a drain.

skippy67 · 19/09/2020 17:51

Die Hard is definitely a Christmas film!

@MyfanwyMontez

Have you seen Dinner for Schmucks? It’s funny and really entertaining. I didn’t think I would like it but I enjoyed it enormously and it the added bonus of Paul Rudd. It’s on Netflix.
Would this be suitable for a 13 year old please @MyfanwyMontez? We have had lockdown move night every Sunday since March and I am seriously struggling for ideas for when it is my choice. Three men and a baby anyone?Grin

We're the millers is funny and easy going to

LajesticVantrashell · 19/09/2020 18:56

I'm watching On The Basis of Sex tonight!

I watched Long Shot with Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen recently, really enjoyed it.

If you want something a bit more serious, Bombshell is now on Prime.

MyfanwyMontez · 19/09/2020 19:26

@Thiswillbeinteresting
It’s rated a 12 . I think there’s a little sexual content ( mostly innuendo) and some swearing.

NeedToKnow101 · 19/09/2020 22:27

Just popped into my head, that film about Eddie the Eagle. Quite funny and heartwarming.

NeedToKnow101 · 19/09/2020 22:29

Get out is brilliant. Funny but a bit scary.

Kkklansman is brilliant too.

Three billboards over Missouri (sic) is fantastic.

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 19/09/2020 22:33

Seconding Long Shot and Blackkklansman and also would recommend Isn’t It Romantic (all Netflix)

stayathomer · 19/09/2020 22:38

Sorry for not helping as all are above, but Game Night, Die Hard and Eurovision.

In Bruges
Death of Stalin
Lady Bird

buzzy1 · 19/09/2020 22:56

Recently watched Murder Mystery with Jen Aniston on Netflix as a family - we all found it funny and entertaining, and a few plot twists to keep you guessing

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 19/09/2020 22:56

Death of Stalin is amazing.
