Recommendations for things to do in Dublin?

Kilmainham gaol and zoo is fully booked.
Few castles we've looked at are not open.
We've already done the bus tour and Guinness factory.
We don't have walking shoes so nothing too challenging.
Any local gems or ideas?
Don't want to do soft play/cinema/bowling etc as we can do that anytime.
Kids are 10 &8.
Thank you.

You know there’s corona lockdown restrictions in Dublin at the moment?

SionnachRua · 18/09/2020 17:38

We're moving to level 3 restrictions today in Dublin so not the best time to be asking!

Under normal circumstances I would say the national museum, Dead Zoo, Hellfire Club, Epic museum, Little Museum, paddle boarding at Grand Canal dock, walk to Bray etc.

Sarahlou63 · 18/09/2020 17:39

Walk to Bray? From Dublin?? Holy shit!!

Non-covid answer? Drive to Cork. Tour the west coast.

Covid answer? Wot Boscoismyspiritanimal said. (Well, roughly. I'm not well up on the exact pandemic conditions in ROI at this minute - but I wouldn't choose now for a fun holiday ...)

The Wax Museum is terrible in a good way - my teens loved it, they also loved the Dracula Experience at Clontarf but yours may be a bit young. Boat trip went down well. The Post Office museum is very interesting for any history addicts - it has all been redone. The didn't like Dublinia (too worthy and school-trippy) but did like the crypt at Christchurch

Howth harbour or Dun Laoghaire pier
Phoenix Park
Botanic gardens
Glasnevin cemetery

Yeah if you can't leave Co.Dublin then the Bray-Greystones walk is out (though wouldn't have needed walking shoes for it). Maybe the ark museum for kids? I think they're aimed at up to 12s.

SqidgeBum · 18/09/2020 17:44

Dublin is being put on serious lockdown tonight so I dont know what would be open, but ...

Trinity college and the book of kells is worth a visit.
The little museum of dublin is good.
Bray is nice for a walk by the sea and some fish and chips.
National and natural history museum are worth a visit.

Viking splash tour if it's open

All my ideas above were outside so you should be ok with them
