Where to go in the UK in February for a 40th birthday?

So, it's DH's 40th birthday in Feb. My present to him was supposed to be going away for a week in Tenerife. However this is now definitely cancelled (flights cancelled, and money had been refunded). We are planning to go Feb half term as will have our two DD's with us who will be 6 and 4.

In an ideal perfect world I'll still be able to take DH abroad somewhere, but I'm anxious to book anything with the current covid situation, not least because it's been a real hassle to get back my last holiday refund. In the situation that going abroad is too impractical or risky (which it's looking very likely might happen) is there anywhere we can go in the UK in February? I appreciate that we could just go away another time, but we already have the annual leave time booked off in for February and it would be a shame to waste it as we don't get much time off together. It'll have to be suitable for the kids as well.

To clarify, obviously there's lots of beautiful places to go in the UK, but I guess I'm looking for an area with a lot of indoor type attractions because the weather in February is unlikely to be great.

I would say Centerparcs but they hike their prices up so much it would depend in your budget. Where abouts are you in the UK?

Centerparcs or Bluestone?

I did York for my 40th and Edinburgh for my 50th, February birthday.

Hi. We're in the South East. Centerparcs is a possibility I guess, but not sure if it might be a bit 'outdoorsy' for February.

Wil have to google Bluestone as I've not heard of them before.

York is a possibility. A friend went there last year and said it was lovely.

Would Cornwall in winter be a mad idea do you think? I've heard ut's heaving and crowded in summer, so in some ways winter may be a better time to visit?
