Can anyone point me towards well-written diversity and equality recruitment policies for business? And/or a reliable tool for gender decoding language?

I am reviewing/updating our company pages and they are woefully thin. It would be helpful to see any gold standard examples. I know that part of the reason they are think is from a lack of proactive policies so I am also charged with research on that.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Policies is probably the wrong word. Statements? Declarations? The page that is supposed to summarise what a company stands for and how they support diversity and equality within the workplace. There are some internal initiatives that I can reference, too.

I think a few organisations have set up to try to push back against Stonewall material which seriously misrepresents the law. But I don’t know what they have available free online.

Public sector but re recruitment we say that we aim for our workforce to reflect the community we serve. Ithink that is a really nice starting point because it works for everywhere. We also talk about diversity throughout the adverts etc. But it is common place stuff.

Is that the sort of thing you mean?

@Mollscroll - that would be very useful. If you can think of any names that I could search up or call then that would be extremely helpful. Thank you

@fartyface - yes, that's a nice starting point and would work well for us, too. Thank you. I need to build the content up to be around 500 words but words that actually mean something, don't just pay lip service. So any examples are helpful.

Thank you

The two I know of are the Authentic Equity Alliance and Diversity by Design.

Almost every piece of information you can download from the internet doesn’t correctly list the protected characteristics under the Equality Act. They will either say gender not sex or omit sex altogether. This is misrepresenting the law.

Ours did too - provided by our very nice HR consultant but she happily corrected it when I told her what the law actually says.

Beyond that I think it’s hard to say much without sounding Panglossian. So I think you stick to the law, equal opportunity and clarity.

Thanks @Mollscroll, I will go and take a look.

Another issue we have is we are a global company so some of our content needs to work for a global audience. The country-specific legal information will have to be robust and checked by each country's team. So somehow I need to make sure the global information works for everyone.

Might be an impossible task!
