Woburn Safari Park Advice

We're off to Woburn Safari Park. When we went to Longleat (yes we like safari parks!) we got great advice to go to the boat ride first as the queues would become huge later. Is there anything at Woburn we should head to first for a similar reason? Or any other useful-to-know advice about visiting generally please?

The train seems to get pretty busy too! Do the drive around bit first though.

We went during school hols and it was busy and queues to get in the toilets and shop were looooong due to social distancing. Just be prepared to queue for most things. It was very well organised and we had a fab time.

Enjoy!

The train is a) not worth it and b) a massive queue at the moment because of social distancing.

If you can talk your DC out of that bit just don’t do it!

The rest is great. Do the pedalos twice instead of the train, the queue moves fast and it’s good fun.

Woburn really is a fab day out. We go often, especially love the monkeys.

Try visiting the zoo area first, as most people tend to drive around the Safari Park first. It’s therefore less busy…. and if you travelled any distance it gives you chance to get out of the car sooner – do the toilets, get a coffee and stretch your legs.
Visit the lake with the pedalo swans sooner rather than later, as this gets busy later on, and you’ll have to queue.
Plan your day and catch the free mini train down to the bird of prey arena. It saves a walk.
If you can only see one talk/show, I’d recommend the elephant talk; many farms and zoo’s have a birds of prey show- but not an elephant talk! There was even a chance to touch one.
On the drive through bit at the beginning, don’t give up before you get to the monkeys. The day we went the queue was incredibly slow, with drivers stopping all the time, despite the instructions to keep moving. We nearly took the shortcut back to the leisure area out of frustration, but in retrospect that would have been a massive shame. The monkeys are, as you expect, the most interactive animals out of the lot.
Make sure you feed the birds at Rainbow Landing. This was probably the highlight for my kids – you buy a cup of nectar and then go and feed the lories and lorikeets. They’re so intoxicated by the food they hop onto your arm to get it.
If you’re running short of time, I’d give the sheeps, goats and pigs a miss. The porcupine, meercat and mongoose enclosure is more fun.
It’s worth going for a second drive around the safari last thing in the day – it’s a lot less busy and you can get a much better/closer/more relaxed view of the animals.
