Just had tooth extracted. Confused about advice

I’m not meant to rinse my mouth but one piece of advice was tokeep hydrated with cold water (no hot cups of coffee).
But doesn’t drinking water count as rinsing, or eating my evening meal, as surely they could potentially dislodge the clot?
Also, would you wait 24 or 48 hours to drink alcohol?

When you rinse you then spit and this is the action that can dislodge the clot.

I think I drank alcohol the next day but I didn’t feel like it the same day. Didn’t drink hot drinks but did warm and cold

Whatever you do, don't use a straw. Sip water gently.

As long as you're not actively swilling water about with force you'll be fine. Sipping water won't dislodge the clot.
Alcohol - depends if you're on any medication. If you're in pain and feeling rubbish it's probably not a great idea! Alcohol also thins blood so not great when you want clotting to happen.
Having said that, I was on the wine a few days after my wisdom extraction!

No advice, but I remember sucking the clot out by accident and it tasting horrendous... like bad meat Grin

Rinsing is when you swill water around your mouth and spit it out. Nothing like drinking. Drink out of a cup or glass (No sports bottle type things) and don't use a straw.

Haha Jaffa. My mouth already tastes of pork chop from all the blood.

Any ad ice about what to do next with regards to filling the gap? Dentist said either: do nothing, have a bridge which will be relatively cheap but would involve p,among down the surrounding teeth or a very expensive implant.
My tooth gap is 5 in from middle on top row. You can’t see the gap when I smile. Will my face look sunken without filling the gap? I already have a stump for the 7th tooth on that row where the crown fell out so often, I just left it.

No sneezing, coughing, spitting or smoking. Do not suck liquid through a straw.
I had a molar out several weeks ago due to an abscess, I ate soup and mash for a week. Tried my best not to sneeze and I ususally sneeze a lot, you do not want 'dry socket'

An implant is the best option as they don't damage any more teeth, but they are expensive. If you can afford it I'd go for that. Dentists often do interest free payment plans.

Don't drink alcohol for 24 hours after extraction - will increase chance of bleeding and irritate the socket.

I had a back lower molar out a month ago. First ever extraction. I had soup an hour later for lunch. Then a normal evening meal that night. Nothing to hard to start with though. Softer food for a few days. I commenced smoking and drinking fizzy within an hour too. Terrible and very risky but luckily it was fine. Drinking stuff is fine. But not spitting. Dentist advised to let toothpaste just dribble out slowly rather than spitting it out after brushing teeth. So yeah, drinking is fine but don't rinse it around your mouth or spit.
