Diagnosis Detectives - girl with the chronic headache

AIBU to think that even the DD let her down?!

Constant migraine? For months? Surely there is no migraine that's literally constant and totally painkiller resisting. Of course I could be wrong and if so anyone suffering like thar girl has my deepest sympathy.

But the blindness in one eye being psychological? I really don't buy that. Really think they should have investigated more.

I like the show really informative.

Eyesight maybe?

Vision loss in one eye is a very specific symptom. No way is this psychological. Something has been missed. That diagnosis was a complete cop-out.

The dynamic between her and her family was v odd from the beginning and it was clear there was something psychological from the off. She had already had extensive investigations before they even started.

Yes, you can have migraines that go on for months and months.

And yes, people do turn up in hospital fairly regularly with symptoms such as stroke which are completely psychological. As the neurologist said, 1/4 of people coming to neurology clinics won't have a neurological disease. This isn't a bad thing, it isn't their fault, it's a manifestation of mental health problems.

There is a v good website about it:

I was curious about the black spot that Lotte mentioned in her vision before she lost sight in her eye; whether it could be related to the migraines she'd been diagnosed with, rather than purely a psychological issue?

A follow up programme explaining the different treatments and their effectiveness would be very interesting.

Lotte wasn't happy with the FND diagnosis for her loss of sight; I can't understand why she didn't voice her concerns to the doctor, possibly she did off screen. I would have found it very difficult to get my head around being told that my own mind/brain was causing me to go blind in one eye.

I'm also left wondering why the MRI scan with contrast wasn't done locally for Lotte instead of leaving her for so long. Would that not have been a logical step?

I sincerely hope that Lotte's quality of life improves soon.

@AnnaMagnani - can I ask how did you come to hear about - neurosymptoms.org? as I don't remember it being mentioned on the actual programme - please correct me if I am wrong.

I lost my voice for a while. I still am unable to sing (used to be a singer). It was/is due to 20 odd years of emotional abuse. My vocal chords are fine. I have vocal physio for the problem. But yep, my head has caused it.

I found that case very odd. So odd, that perhaps it was psychological, but who knows?
