Please help me figure out what this is on DD's hair (pics attached)

Calling on the collective wisdom of Mumsnet for help, please. Can you help me figure out what this in on my DDs hair? She is 9 and for the past two weeks has had this fIaky thing on her hair. She has thick curly and lovely hair.
I initially thought dandruff but even with dandruff shampoo and tea tree oil etc It hasn't had any effect - in some places it's so many of them its tough to comb through.

I wondered if it was just dry skin but again its stuck to the hair and wont budge - it also seems to be increasing by the day.

The fact that I am visually disabled and close to blind doesn't help and DH is being useless.

Please please help!

But could be product build up as pics not super clear.

They are very evenly shaped. Dandruff or dry skin wouldn't be. I'm guessing eggs too. Has she been scratching. Has nobody said anything at school. That looks like she's totally infested.

You need Hedrin ‘once’ and a nitty gritty comb.

As with the above, initial thoughts were lice eggs.

Looks like a very pronounced case of nits. I’m surprised the school haven’t been in touch though so maybe not?

I don’t think it’s headlice it’s too dense. However a still think a nitty gritty comb would remove some and it shifts even stuck tight stuff from the hair shaft.

Is she rinsing conditioner out of her hair properly? Residue could do that especially with thick hair.

I’d try the comb and a week or two washing with something like vosene and conditioner only on the ends.

Do you use hairspray or other products on her hair? It looks a bit like a build up of hairspray/products. Maybe the shampoo you are using is not enough to remove the build up over time so putting more on each day adds to it if that makes sense.
If not then like pp said it may be eggs but it's hard to tell in the pictures.

If those are lice eggs, she is absolutely crawling

It may be too precise a job for you to manage so your husband is going to have to treat her and comb them out. YouTube will show him if he's claiming ignorance.

Really bad case of nits, I've seen it this bad once before.

I thought it looked like hair gel, from your description of hair being hard to comb. Does she use any products, maybe to smooth down the front?

You could try one last wash with the strongest shampoo you have. I's even use a bit of washing up liquid but that might dry out the hair too much. If nothing shifts I'd say definitely lice.
