What can I spray on fabrics to kill germs & possibly Covid?

We are staying in a hotel next week and I'd like to take something with me to spray on soft furnishings for peace of mind.

What works??

I could lend you my magic sponge that’s been pissed on by nuns. I strap it to my head when I go shopping and I haven’t caught COVID yet.

draughtycatflap · 16/09/2020 13:37

It soaks up evils too.

GenderApostate19 · 16/09/2020 13:39

Fabulosa do a disinfectant spray for fabric or you could dilute zoflora into a spray bottle. I’d take milton wipes for the taps/switches and put the remote in a ziplock bag too.

Dettol spray & wear.

bookish83 · 16/09/2020 13:49

Milton spray?

BlueThursday · 16/09/2020 13:49

Wire brush and dettol

Why don’t you ask hotel what sort of precautions they are taking? They must be cleaning due to guidelines and have worked it all out. Or are leaving rooms for longer between guests. You could risk marking furniture and bedding if you start randomly spraying chemicals. I thought covid “sank” into soft fabrics anyway and can only live on hard surfaces for any length of time.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/09/2020 14:08

Zoono71 is a spray that kills viruses and keeps surfaces clean for 24 hours.

twilightcafe · 16/09/2020 14:15

Dettol wipes for hard surfaces. They also do a spray for finishings.
Also a clear bag for remote control, travel mug for hot drinks.
Get rid of cushions, bolsters and throws. They are germ factories.

BanditsBum · 16/09/2020 14:16

Dettol do a spray but Im pretty sure most places will be doing enhanced cleaning. Also (and I say this as someone who suffered from post natal OCD around contamination so I get the worry) it is highly unlikely that you will catch something from soft furnishings unless they are soiled. Especially if you are washing your hands before touching your face etc.

Maybe take your own pillow and towel if you are worried.

You can’t sanitise Textiles effectively with a spray of anything. If you are that worried then don’t go!

HKmummymoo · 16/09/2020 14:25

Well thanks for the helpful advice, those that's given it 😬

Take wipes for hard surfaces. Ask not to have cleaners in daily. Shove un needed cushions in the wardrobe. go out for a few hours after checking in. The risk from soft furnishings is so minuscule I would guess you're more likely to die from a bad reaction to the spray. #notadoctor

BlueChampagne · 16/09/2020 14:32

surgical spirit?

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 16/09/2020 14:55

Petrol is probably good, ...with some matches.😈

I'm not really helping, am I? 🤐

EvilPea · 16/09/2020 14:57

I thought the virus only lasted a very very short time on fabrics as they sap the moisture out of it

anditgoeson · 16/09/2020 15:00

@draughtycatflap can I have one of those 🤣🤣

Cassie71 · 16/09/2020 15:01

A portable steam cleaner.

MsWonderful · 16/09/2020 15:07

I think you should take draughtycatflap up on her offer OP

LizzieMacQueen · 16/09/2020 15:08

Just don't. The hotel management won't like it.

dudsville · 16/09/2020 15:11

I understand wanting to take your own precautions. It will help you relax. We have a bottle of anti bac spray. It's not a cleanser or a bleach and starts that it's good for a range of germs. I think it makes travelling easier for us when we're going to see elderly family.

NekoShiro · 16/09/2020 15:56

Zoflora?

JovialNickname · 16/09/2020 18:34

Industrial strength bleach.

Thisismytimetoshine · 16/09/2020 18:39

If whatever you spray on fabrics causes staining you'll be handed the bill. Probably quite a hefty one.
Why are you staying in a hotel if you really believe you can get Covid from the soft furnishings?!
