Health Anxiety Through the Roof - lump in leg. Anyone else?

I had a real deep itch in my leg 2-3 weeks, almost immediately after scratching it a lump under the skin appeared. It's about 2 inches wide and 1 inch in length. It was painless, but today has started to cause intermittent shooting pains in the lump. It is right on a vein.

Any thoughts on what it could be?

Of course, google has me dead and buried.

Thank you.

I’ve just had a similar thing too, after falling off a ladder. Started as a weird twinge, which turned into a burning tearing pain followed by the discovery of a lump. I panicked and went to the doctors (twice) but both times they seemed fairly sure it was a cyst.

Best get it checked out, chances are it will be nothing to worry about :)

Please don't panic - easier said than done I know. I have a lump on the side of my calf - it feels a bit like a squishy dried apricot under the skin, and similar in size. I went to my GP who wasn't at all concerned, but sent me for an ultrasound to be 100%. The radiologist confirmed it's a lipoma - a lump of fat. In fact, his words were 'ah yes, just fat, surrounded by lots of fat'. I've never been so happy to hear I have fat legs! Make a GP appointment ASAP - not because I think it's anything sinister, but so you can put your mind at rest. Try to think very rationally - statistically, a lumpy leg is unlikely to be anything horrible.

No lump in my leg, but I do have health anxiety and could give many, many examples of symptoms I've panicked over and times I've been convinced there was sth seriously wrong with me. None of which have turned out to be anything bad.

Defo get it checked out, but it's more likely to be totally harmless.
