If DC have one day off now eg for a cold, do they have to be off for 14 days?

Back in march if DC had a day off for any illness they then had to stay off for two weeks - does anyone know if that is still the case?

I kept mine off for two days with a cold, but no corona symptoms. I checked with the doctor who did not want to test them. School are happy with it. DC 2 developed a post cold snot clearing cough so I might keep him off an extra day on the teachers advice. She said it might not be pleasant for him at school if he has to cough.

My son is off today with the onset of a cold. Very occasional mucus cough. I have spoken to school who have confirmed that if he hasn't got a temp or a continuous cough and he feels well enough he is fine in school tomorrow. I suspect all schools maybe slightly different but from what I've heard most seem to be quite sensible.

Yes, I felt in the current climate the throat clearing cold-cough could go down very badly, which would be worrying for everyone including my DC.

They're both at home and I think it's the right thing. I mean, it's better to keep them at home when they're ill anyway right? Colds aren't nice either to spread around... but I realise it's very impractical if you can't WFH and colds can seem to go on all winter, so it's tricky.

I know people who currently tested positive and none of them have had temperatures, so not having one doesn’t mean you won’t test positive.
