For those with Ds (14) 5’9 and above, where do you buy their clothes?

Inspired by another thread asking where Mnetters buy their DD clothes.

Where do you buy your teenage ds clothes?

Ds isn’t massively into sports, so no football type tops etc We’ve bought online, jogging bottoms from JD Sports and a range of clothes from Next.

Just curious where you buy clothes from?

DS and his friends wear Superdry. Their clothes are eye-wateringly expensive but they do have at least two decent sales a year, so I tend to stock up.
Other than that, he just wears plain-ish supermarket T-shirt’s

QueenofLouisiana · 14/09/2020 03:31

Asos mainly. TKMaxx when I didn’t mind shopping in stores. However, DS likes sports tops so I buy lots of those.
DS is 15 and 6’2”.

TheTeenageYears · 14/09/2020 04:44

At 14 he would be in men's clothes anyway and 5'9" isn't particularly tall so the answer is really anywhere.

Teen DS is 6'4". That presents a few more issues for leg and sleeve length but H&M are pretty consistent in fitting. Extra long (33 or 34 inside leg) jeans are only available online rather than in H&M stores. Next are good for school trousers because they do various inside leg measurements. The biggest issue is cost.

ds hates branded clothes so won't wear any sports tops or anything. Most of his is from (men's) h&m, ASOS, next, Zara, John Lewis. I think his fave is h&m though. Some of their stuff can be quite random and quirky which is just his style.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 14/09/2020 06:37

Thanks all.

Teens over 6’ must be expensive to buy for Shock I get away with small mens at the moment, or Next do up to age 16 which I like.

@TheTeenageYears Ds tells me there are giants at his school, your Ds would probably be one he’d be on about Grin mind you DH is 6’5 but I’m not sure DS will be as tall as him, might take after 5’7 diddy me!

@hippohector good idea about the Superdry sales, I need to remember to keep checking online. In fact now might be the time? I’ll have to check later.

@QueenofLouisiana yes, TKMAXX is a good idea. Last time I went to our local one there seemed to be Diesel t shirts everywhere so I’m not sure whether they’d be deemed as uncool or not. Nearly bought myself one.

@TammyTwoSawnson I’ll check out H&M sounds just up DS street. He can like the quirky stuff. I have a love/hate relationship with Zara’s website, wish they’d try and simplify it so you could just scroll through the photos but I have bought the odd quirky top from there in the past, when ds was younger. He particularly loved the sequin tops at one stage Grin

DS is same age and size as yours.

He and all his mates are not into sport at all but wear Adidas. Northface and sometimes Nike.

I get the northface stuff off eBay as it's so expensive new and Adidas from their outlet store or sports direct.

Breathmiller · 14/09/2020 07:13

My 6 ft 17 yr old has bought the same Matalan combat trousers in blue or black for the last 4 years. They do in different lengths and wear well. I keep asking if he wants something different but nope, same ones again. He's not into sports stuff.

He also gets band t-shirts online from the band website. And also has a couple of these funny science t-shirts online again.

H&M for hoodies and jumpers and plain t-shirts and he also likes a look around TK Maxx for the odd thing. He got a great coat from there.
His issue is he needs small because he's skinny but medium for length.

Breathmiller · 14/09/2020 07:15

H&M also do an extra small which suited my son when he was 14 if i remember correctly

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 07:19

M&S do a sixth form range that is good for school trousers (different waist sizes and lengths).

Superdry used to have an EBay store was good for sale items (haven’t looked for ages though). H&M good for shirts and chinos.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/09/2020 07:19

*shorts not shirts

averythinline · 14/09/2020 10:16

Ds is about 6ft ...but slight nearly a 36 leg.. but prior to the leg growth h&m, next have simple joggers but he doesn't like much else.

Adidas have a limited tall range.
His favourite is uniqlo for tops but their trousers are only regular!
Decathlon..
Tkmaxx but a bit random size wise and labels can be tricky.

Occasional top man and primark

littlemsattitude · 14/09/2020 10:18

M and s, next, anywhere really. He's not into brands and mostly wears school uniform or whatever clothes he does sport in.

spiderlight · 14/09/2020 11:33

Next for joggers, either plain black or Adidas (he won't wear jeans at the moment). He's an aviation fanatic and likes to wear t-shirts from various YouTubers and a few band shirts - usually something quirky. Other than that, he tends to wear plain dark t-shirts from Next.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 14/09/2020 11:34

Depop is pretty good.

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 14/09/2020 13:15

Uniqlo do a standard 34" leg in men's trousers so that's fine for my 6ft son.
I also have a very slim 6'2" son. M&S do varying lengths and waists for trousers. He likes Superdry for T-shirts.
Just buy men's sizes for a 5'9" boy.

Starisnotanumber · 14/09/2020 13:20

Levis jeans go up to a 36 inch leg.
DS 6.2 wore them for years, expensive but 10% off at the moment if you subscribe to their e mail

frustrationcentral · 14/09/2020 16:43

DS is 16 and 6ft 2. He likes labelled stuff and we're lucky to live near a couple of those outlet places so he buys T-shirt's there ( Boss, Ralph Lauren etc). He also likes ASOS and they're good for longer length trousers.

frustrationcentral · 14/09/2020 16:45

Levi jeans are good for a longer leg, as a PP said they aren't cheap but DS really looks after his ( washes separately with black liquid) so they've kept really nicely. He used to buy cheap ones and actually I think it's a false economy. They lost their shape and colour quickly so needed replacing

ihearttc · 14/09/2020 16:57

DS1 is 15 and about 6ft 1 (compared to me who is 4ft 10!).

He has worn men’s clothes since he was about 11!! He wears Hollister jeans mainly as they tend to fit him really well although his girlfriend convinced him to buy some out of Primark at the weekend (which he wouldn’t have done if I asked!!) and they fit really well. He wears North Face, Champion, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger T-shirt’s and Jumpers. DH also bought him a Dsquared2 hoody which he lives in! He also has size 11 feet so shoes cost a fortune!

notso · 14/09/2020 17:05

DS1 is 16 but has been over 6 foot since he was 14.
He wears Primark jeans, he won't wear joggers out the house. I can tell when he hasn't bothered doing his laundry if he wears them in the house Grin
T-shirts, he wears loads of band t-shirts, Adidas originals, Levi's, a few Pretty Green ones, Primark, Lambretta.
He won't wear jumpers really. He wears shirts over t-shirts if it's cold. He also has loads of jackets.
There's a lot of brands he won't wear due to their association with anti social behaviour.
