Bit gross! What do you remove dead skin with?

The hard skin on my feet is so thick it is disgusting!
Any recommendations for what works to remove it?

I found those peeling socks pretty great. Although they took longer for the. To work last time and I ended up having peeling feet on holidays. Envy not envy!

https://www.superdrug.com/Health/Foot-Care/Dry,-Hard-&-Cracked-Skin/O'Keeffe's-Healthy-Feet-85g-Tube/p/7403211*

This stuff. It's the best cream. You can get it as a tube or jar. It's also available from Boots and possibly a few other places.

giantangryrooster · 13/09/2020 10:01

3 dl. Vinegar, 3 dl. Listerne (mouthwash) not too much warm water to cover feet in a bowl/bucket of some kind. Soak for 15-20 min. Remove death skin and repeat if necessary.

Sounds weird, but actually works well Smile.

KindergartenKop · 13/09/2020 11:22

A corn knife if it's really thick. It's like a foot razor. The ladies in the pedicure places use them. You need to soak your feet first. You can get them from eBay.

HRoosevelt · 13/09/2020 11:26

A foot file- they're amazing

Florencenotflo · 13/09/2020 11:32

My feet were awful, I mean so thick on the heels and balls of my feet. I did the footner socks, but I left them on for 3 hours (rather than the 1 hour it says). Soak your feet every night after you do the socks and it does come away easily. Mine took over a week in total, some nights I sat in the bath, left them to soak and gave them a bit of a scrub with my hands and it did get the worst off. They weren't perfect, I had some pretty bad cracks in my heels which were obviously still there, but I've been doing them every night with a pumice stone and loads of cream and so far they are ok. I've worn flip flops which I don't usually do unless I've had a pedicure!

minipie · 13/09/2020 17:48

I use the footner type socks about twice a year and a sort of rough oval sponge thing in between.

AnathemaPulsifer · 13/09/2020 18:16

I went to a podiatrist a few years ago who cut it off with a blade and it still isn’t back. I had huge cracks and everything. Well worth £45.

FrogFairy · 13/09/2020 18:41

I have something like this, but got mine in Aldi.

www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-DIOZO-Rechargeable-Waterproof-Remover/dp/B07WN4FJX8/ref=sr_1_18?dchild=1&crid=2V51847EA4F5O&keywords=pedi+roller&sprefix=Pedi+%2Caps%2C239&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1600018798&sr=8-18

A good seeing to with this then a load of moisturiser works wonders.

OwlBasket · 13/09/2020 18:47

Do people soak their feet before using the exfoliating socks or should the feet just be clean and dry?

Soonsoonsoon · 13/09/2020 18:49

I have the same problem. A combination of the microplane foot file and flexitol 25% urea cream has worked absolutely wonders

QuestionableMouse · 13/09/2020 18:52

I use one of those Korean scrubby cloths on mine.

QuestionableMouse · 13/09/2020 18:54

Oh and I'm also using up some hyaluronic acid serum that I don't like for my face on them. Iirc it was the Revolution one but it didn't suit the skin on my face.

BikeTyson · 13/09/2020 18:55

Soaking and pumice stone followed by flexitol heel balm has really helped mine. It’s not a quick fix but did make a big difference, and I’m trying to keep on top of it so they don’t get that bad again.

Bunnymumy · 13/09/2020 18:56

Funily enough I've always found that scrubbing does more harm than good. I'd second using a foot cream. I use CCS heel balm. Or palmers if I need a deep treatment.

Florencenotflo · 13/09/2020 19:00

I did @OwlBasket I think the instructions tell you to as well.

PenOrPencil · 13/09/2020 19:13

Soap & Glory “The Heel Deal” foot file - I bought it a few years ago as people were raving about it on here (🐑). It is amazing.

Bonkersblond · 13/09/2020 19:17

Newton’s chiropody sponge is best thing I’ve used, it melts the dead skin away.

WickedEmoji · 13/09/2020 19:19

I just moisturise regularly. I work in my feet and one of those two points foot masks you can get in Superdrug every fortnight or so and have lovely soft feet. I usually sleep with them on one night.

Soulstirring · 13/09/2020 19:20

I love a foot file. Got one off amazon, like a cheese grater. It’s brilliant

wowfudge · 13/09/2020 19:22

Flexitol is brilliant for cracked skin on your feet and for keeping the skin supple.

AntiSocialDistancer · 13/09/2020 19:30

Just going through the same process. I've bought the OKeefe foot cream and a foot file. Much better already

AviceCaro · 13/09/2020 19:38

Another vote for the Newton's chiropody sponge - it is amazing.

OwlBasket · 13/09/2020 19:55

Thanks @Teacher12345Florencenotflo

The Newton's chiropody sponge is like magic, where does it go though? 😮 Feet like a baby, you need to apply a good foot cream after.
