Hi,

This is only really half joking. Never thought I'd do one of these threads but seriously, what do your kids of similar age eat.

Mine has always barely eating anything, and been tiny and very slight.

She is clearly in the middle of a huge growth spurt as finally in clothes for her age group, but is looking a bit chubby and constantly hungry. I don't think you describe her as overweight, but she certainly is a bit soft in places and no longer skin, bones and knobbly knees!

Is there any point where you start restricting what she eats?

This is what she has eaten/will eat today

Breakfast
Blueberry, whole banana and oats smoothie.

Morning snack
Mini satsuma and babybel

Lunch
Half tuna mayo and sweet corn wrap
Small Handful of carrot and red pepper sticks, tablespoon humous
2 slices of ham spread thinly with cream cheese
Mini apple
Mini satsuma
Small fairy cake

Straight from school snack
Crisps (snackrite)
Small banana

Quick tea before evening sports club
Ham and cream cheese sandwich
Couple of red pepper sticks
Handful of blueberries

Dinner when we get in
Small bowl of pork and bean casserole

Just looks like an enormous amount of food?? Any ideas?

It sounds like pretty healthy food for a busy family tbh.
I have an 11yo, who is average height but very slight build, he's currently at the very bottom end of healthy.
Yesterday he ate:
no breakfast
five dried apricots at break
salami bagel and Nairn's oat biscuits for lunch
A scone with jam after school
Homemade pork kebabs with flatbread and a sweetcorn cob for supper
an apple and a peach and apricot yoghurt after

That was a good day. I wish he ate more veg and fruit.

Far too much snacking. TBH her eating plan sounds like a toddler’s. Not the amount, but the frequency of food.

If she’s eating that regularly then her metabolism won’t have burned off the previous meal yet hence why she is likely gaining weight even though the food amounts don’t seem that much.

I would give her less meals but more food in those meals. So smoothy for breakfast but no snack, then a decent sized lunch, maybe a snack when she gets home and a decent dinner. She will then become used to not having the snack mid morning and will likely eat more breakfast in time.

And there’s some protein but a lot of fruit and veg which while healthy isn’t filling.

It doesn’t sound a lot to me. I have an 10yr old dd (11 in 2 months) and a 12 yr old ds and they eat the same amount as me.
A typical day-
2 slices Nutella and toast
Large Ham and cheese wrap, rice cake, mini sausages, cherry tomatoes, Kit Kat
Pork chop, mash, broccoli, carrots.

Plus treats of biscuits, twiglets, cheddars, a sweet, etc in the evening as they work their way through the cupboards.....

Dd has put on a bit of weight lately but ds hasn’t. The girls at school all look bigger than the boys, and are growing much faster - my 2 are the same height with 18months between them.

I wouldn't start to restrict her food, it doesn't sound much for an 11 year old

A distinct lack of protein and huge amounts of fruit is why she's hungry. She should only be eating two fruit portions a day, not 7!! She's basically grazing on fruit and veg, there's not enough food types that keep her energy levels up.
