Chocolate bars in their wrappers! I wouldn't be buffet grazing at the moment

In lots of supermarkets now you can buy a kit to make duck pancakes for around £5, just add in some spring onion and cucumber. I think the kits make 12 with plenty of meat and sauce in each. Arrange in a circle with some garnish in the middle and you’re sorted!

Cheese and pineapple on sticks - call in retro.

Or - pesto pinwheels
Sheet of Jus Rol puff pastry
Spread with pesto
Add a layer of spinach/shavings of courgette (use a potato peeler)
Sprinkle with cheese - feta, cheddar, mozzarella - of choice
Roll up
Slice into 1” widths
Bake for 20 mins

Iceland sell various things that are already on a platter and just need defrosting

  • Buy blinis, add cream cheese, smoked salmon and capers to decorate
  • Using a round cookie cutter or glass, cut rounds from the centre of a slice of bread. Brush lightly with butter and bake in a cupcake pan to make a cup shape. Use these crispy morsels with any filling you'd use a vol-u-vent for

Buffet of 6 people? Probably best to arrange to take your own packed meal rather than all take something separate and potentially contaminated.
Such a shame: I used to love a pot luck buffet!

We are under different Covid restrictions so buffet of more than 6 allowed!

Knew this thread would be more about how unwise a buffet is in covid times and also comments hinting that they suspect you're going to be illegally gathering with more than 6 people.

As for what food to take, depends on what you like, any dietary requirements, how good you are at cooking and what's available ready made wherever you are, the quality and the cost compared with home made. Some ready made 'party' food is shocking quality and very expensive for what it is, but on the other hand, some is lovely and better value as you wouldn't be able to make it yourself for much less or it might be fiddly or time consuming to make.

I'd suggest something like mini quiches, mini fishcakes or onion bhajis as they're usually very popular. Not sausage rolls, pork pie, mini sausages or picnic eggs as there's always too much processed pork type food on a buffet anyway.

I would do a cheeseboard with crackers of various kinds and some fruit and chutneys...delish and all can be kept in their wrappers til its time to serve so no faffing.

Oatcakes topped with a blob of creme fraiche ,and finished off with a bit of smoked salmon and add a green garnish if one is to hand .

Palmiers are nice and very easy - readyroll with lots of different possible fillings e.g. here - third one down. I managed to burn these but people still ate them all!
