I’m scared of COVID- scared of my DD getting it and passing it into us.

She went back to school on the 3rd and has been home now (yesterday and today) with a runny nose and slight cough. No temp

It didn’t even take a full 5 days of school for her to catch this, she is year 2 so guaranteed if this is not COVID the next one will be.

She is in a private school so the class size is 19, we both work full time.

I cannot handle the anxiety which I’m going to suffer from here on, I want to pull her out of school and home school. I will quit my job if need be.

Am I being silly even suggesting this? I feel so muddled with lack of sleep and not eating properly I cannot think straight

It’s not a decision to be taken lightly. Are you always anxious? Have you anyone you can talk this through with?
(My children are adults now).

Are you particularly vulnerable?

If you are under 40 or 50 with no health problems, your biggest worry should be who you could infect!

It's absolutely not guaranteed she will catch it. That's your anxiety talking. It's still a very very small proportioned the population who have caught it.

Yes I understand that according to stats. But they are ever changing and not sure what to believe in anymore?

Possibly but daughter catches every bug going...it’s always been like that I cannot remember an Autumn where we didn’t visit the GP/Pharmacy

I think pretty much everyone with kids has to visit the GP/pharmacy every autumn/winter!!! I wouldn’t use that as a benchmark that she will catch Covid!!!!

The stats around death rates haven't changed

It sounds like you are processing information quite unusually negatively

SomethingM1ss1ng · 09/09/2020 18:20

Yes I seem to be...

You risk harming her more by giving in to your anxiety than any COVID risk. The risk for younger children really is low.
Almost all children catch colds more frequently than adults.

midgebabe · 09/09/2020 19:04

And very young children don't seem to make good spreaders

Perhaps you need some extra support?

SomethingM1ss1ng · 09/09/2020 21:23

midge yes I do some support in controlling my anxiety, I gave self referred myself to a support service who might be able to help me with techniques like CBT etc.
