Cars with lots of rear seat space

Has anybody got a car that has lots of rear seat space? If so, what car is it?

I've got an Axkid Minikid which takes up so much space in the rear seats. If it's behind me as driver, it's fine, but then DP can't drive the car and we only have the one car seat at the moment, so he's behind the passenger seat which makes the front passenger seat redundant unless you're teeny tiny.

As much as I'd love a very expensive car, my finances won't stretch to some of the ones recommended online (top 4 cars for rear cabin space on one article were BMW, Porsche, Audi, Bentley GrinGrin).

My mum has recently got an Renault Kajar that is very roomy in the background seat. Not sure how you feel about a french car though?

Been there with the erf car seats and needing decent leg room. You need to specifically look for cars with a long wheel base. Often categorised as 'limousine'.

I'm a few years ahead of you, so can't tell you exactly what models to look for. The only one I know for sure is the Skoda Superb.

Or alternatively out Concord Reverso plus ERF seat is very neat of you decide to go down the new seat route. Happy to measure/ take pics of that would hellz

Try the arteon there are some amazing deals out atm

We have a Skoda Octavia which has a good amount of leg room for an ERF seat (we've just swapped a Cybex Sirona for a Britax Max Way Plus) and a tallish driver and passenger.

When we looked at cars last year we also like the Kia Niro which had generous leg room but a much smaller boot.

The huge boot of the Octavia is so helpful with young kids!

Didn't look at the Superb as it was too big for me, I didn't want a massive car. But it is very roomy inside, relative to the external dimensions.

i have a vw sharan and it has loads of leg space, however i also have the mini kid and its tight for the passenger and driver if they are 6 foot plus tall unless... how have you fitted it? i fitted it thinking the lip at the edge of the minikid under the babys bum had to be over the edge of the car seat but actually you can fit it so that the seat is as close the the back of the car as possible...until the child needs more leg space but that wouldnt be until about 3/4 years anyway. i hope that makes sense?

We have a Skoda Kodiaq. We're both tall and had a similar issue

TokenGinger · 21/09/2020 22:24

@ShivD The Kadjar is actually top of my list. I have a Clio currently and love it so I am naturally more inclined to the Kadjar.

There's so many recommendations now! Thank you so much :)

@memememe That makes perfect sense. We've got it fitted at the back of the seat right now as there's no room to put it on the lip of the seat in the car. Hopefully I'll find a bigger car before he needs that extra leg room.

There's a lot of recommendations for Skodas here. I definitely need to give them another look!

We've got 2 Minikids fitted in our Seat Alhambra. DH is 6'2 and I'm 5'7.

Definitely! I currently have a Skoda Fabia Estate and it’s fantastic, really recommend them as a brand.

I’m in the same situation as you and we were looking at the octavia and superb last night as we might trade the Fabia in once number 2 is here. Will try the car seats first though.

ShivD · 22/09/2020 09:58

@TokenGinger my mum had a Renault previously and was happy so that’s why she got the Kadjar. She’s really happy with it.

Citroën Picasso, the space in the front, back and boot is fantastic. I sometimes call it The Spaceship. Ours is a 2012 model though, I'm not sure what the newer ones are like.

muggleaunt · 22/09/2020 11:10

Mazda 6, plenty of legroom for 6ft tall driver with 6ft tall passenger behind. Boot is huge too.
