Tips for newborn photoshoot?

I'm due in a few weeks and we're having a newborn photoshoot about 2 weeks after. It's more of a family shoot I suppose - we'll be holding baby the entire time and the shoot will be outside.

Does anyone who has had a newborn photoshoot have any tips? I would imagine that we should feed her right beforehand so she's sleepy...

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, i'm a professional newborn photographer so may be able to help a bit Grin
My best advice would be to ask the photographer you have booked as they may have a specific way of working, our a routine that works for them to achieve the best photographs. They may have some specific advice on what to bring (or not if they already have it)

Generally i'd advise that baby is well fed and warm so they're sleepy and comfortable. I always advise having a change of clothes and a spare blanket to hand, just in case of accidents. Also, if you have one of those devices that play white noise or heartbeat sounds they tend to work really well at helping calm baby. If you don't have one, there are quite a few free apps that do the job too.

Also perhaps bring along anything that is sentimental that you'd like included in the session. For some people this is scan photos, wedding and engagement rings, photos of loved ones, special outfits etc.

Good luck, I hope all goes well!

The photographer should be advising you tbh.

Thanks @AnnieMaul! That's really helpful - definitely a good point about change of outfit just in case!
