Is anyone else just scared of wasps?

Walked into my kitchen this morning to hear a loud buzzing sound, thought it was a bluebottle but couldn’t see it.

Next thing, there was a big wasp flying around me as I sat down at the table. It was ridiculous but I screamed so badly!!

I ran out of the room and called on DH to come and remove it or if necessary, kill it.

Does anyone here have any tips on how to remove a wasp or even a bee ( I don’t mind bees as much) without the fear of getting stung?

I just cannot go near wasps, they scare the life out of me so badly!

I think this is very common, I’ve seen so many people lose their shit when wasps come around flapping and screaming.
The only advice I can give is to keep still and it will fly away, if you can’t keep still just move away as calmly as possible so as not to agitate it, if you have food it wants just surrender it!
They don’t bother me at all and I’ve been stung a few times! Spiders on the other hand spiders are my wasp 😂

I like all insects, and spiders, slugs snails you name it but wasps can fuck off!

No tips here I'm afraid my partner is the wasp disposal here lol.

Magots too vile creatures!

I found cognitive behavioural therapy very helpful (for me not the wasps).

They often seem to go for light, so if you can make the window the lightest point in the room, ie turn the light off if it’s on, or open the curtains, the wasp may well head for it. Then you just need to get DH to persuade it to fly out!

Flying insect killing spray is effective but mean.

Your reaction is a bit hysterical.

I used to be and then one day, after getting stung, the fear just disappeared

It isn't that bad

I am still pretty revulsed by them, but no longer make a fool of myself in public Grin

‘Your reaction is a bit hysterical’ - yes a bit like a phobia then

@Aquamarine1029

Your reaction is a bit hysterical.
There’s always one!

Trust me, there's more than one.

DH is petrified of wàsps. When he was a child at a picnic his brother had a sandwich and a wasp was on the sandwich and he took a bite without looking. His mother panicked because his father was shouting at her, obviously everything was her fault.

A giant jam sandwich nearby outside could work. You know, that would make a great children’s story.

Haha. One of my most favourite books from when I was a child. I still have it in my library.
