What hobbies do you have?

I realised tonight I don't really have any hobbies. I like to read, spend time with my children or watch tv, and whilst these are fine, I think I need to have an interest in something but I don't know what, so I need a bit of inspiration. What hobbies do you do?

I love this octopus! - octopus+pl. in general they are so intelligent.

I wouls love to be able to draw or play an instrument, but my siblings and DD would see me. They are the one's who can do stuff like that.

The80sweregreat · 06/09/2020 20:31

Reading mostly!

The80sweregreat · 06/09/2020 20:32

Tiny, lovely picture!

Dazedandconfused10 · 06/09/2020 20:34

Reading, video games, bit of exercise. My hobbies are antisocial ones.

Lyricallie · 06/09/2020 20:34

Surfing and kayaking! I'm also a guide leader so that is fun learning skills for that. Also reading fantasy books and playing the switch. I've just bought stuff to make candles so I'm excited to try that!

Tropical fish, genealogy, cooking, walking, gardening.

Dh paints a lot: watercolours, acrylics, oils. It's gradually getting to be like living in a picture gallery, but I like it.

Tiny - I love your octopus! When amateurs put pics of their artwork on social media I admit often think "Ermmm that's not great". But yours is really beautiful!

Kashtan · 06/09/2020 20:47

Running, reading, gardening, riding ( horses), swimming.

BIRDSbirds · 06/09/2020 20:59

Umm... is mumsnetting a hobby??

TinySongstress · 06/09/2020 21:01

Thank you for the kind comments! I'm a complete amateur but I really enjoy doing it, and there's something to show for it.

I hadn't lifted a brush until a couple of years ago when my grandma passed away and left me her cache of art materials and I thought, well let's have a go at this....I'm so glad she did! 💖

I'm learning the guitar and managed to ramp up my practice when I was working from home for a few months so finally seeing a bit of improvement!

Also running but injured at the moment, can't wait to get back to it.

Running, reading and I go to a music group once a fortnight, although that's been on zoom for the last 6 months. I didn't really have any hobbies (apart from the reading) until maybe 4 or 5 years ago when I realised all I did was either work or kids.

SweetPetrichor · 06/09/2020 21:36

Cycling, reading, writing and cross stitch.

mallowa · 06/09/2020 21:38

astrology, lino printing, interior design

I have horses and compete (in non covid times), hillwalk (Munros), run 3 times a week, love reading (my degree is Eng Lit) and enjoy baking. I also work full time. I am not really interested in TV and my children are adults.

DonLewis · 06/09/2020 21:40

Gardening. Specifically from seed and generally veggies.
And reading.
But over lockdown, I've learned to knit and I'm hooked! What a wonderful hobby. We've got scarves galore already! And I can do it on front of the tele! If really recommend it, even though I'm not arty or crafty as rule!who knew?

DipSwimSwoosh · 06/09/2020 21:43

Swimming - I swim in open water about twice a week.
Singing - choirs when possible.
Running.

Guineapigbridge · 06/09/2020 21:43

I quite like sitting on my chuff and watching comedies on TV. Does that count? Grin

Guineapigbridge · 06/09/2020 21:44

Selmaselma · 06/09/2020 21:46
