where do you get your towels?

packing for a holiday recently revealed that our bath sheets are both too few and too shabby. Job for today is to replace. Is it worth spending £££ or is there no difference with Primark or the supermaerkets?

I used to buy expensive towels but have bought from Sainsburys in the last few years and they're really good quality.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 06/09/2020 20:44

sainsbury's it is then - thanks all.
perhaps oddly, I prefer my towels crispy rather than fluffy, so don't mind if they're not so soft, but thick and hardwearing is good.

Everytime I've thought a towel felt nice, holiday cottages etc, and looked at the label it's been Asda! Way better than my expensive John Lewis ones

We use dock and bay which are not fluffy at all but they dry so quickly! We thought we wouldn't like them but they are all we use now and I use the hair wraps too.

ConfusedDotty · 06/09/2020 20:54

Sainsbury's definitely.

BravoTangoNiner · 06/09/2020 21:04

We had family from New Zealand staying with us two years ago and needed extra towels.

I bought 2 bundles from the Studio catalogue - thought if they lasted their 12 week stay I'd be pleased.

They are fantastic and wash so well - still look like new!

nosswith · 06/09/2020 21:36

Please don't go to Primark.

Wincarnis · 06/09/2020 21:40

I’ve still got some from BHS Grin
Christy bath sheets (bought in Debenhams sale) have been very good.

Redcrayons · 06/09/2020 21:45

Asda bath sheets are fab. Had them years and although the colour has faded a little bit, they’re just as fluffy as new.

Gurufloof · 06/09/2020 21:48

I like Christie towels but I've bought some lovely ones from king of cotton. On sale too. So a brilliant price for similar to Christie. Bedeck also do pretty towels. Check the gsm, the higher the number the fluffier the towel. Mine are 800gsm from king of cotton, 400 to 500gsm from Christie.
If you like them rough then line dry them, never use softener.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 06/09/2020 21:49

Asda luxury ones or whatever they’re called. Very thick and lovely. Bath sheet is huge!

However I’ve had a Dunelm towel that I got to pick out to take on holiday when I was 10 that’s 20 years old now and still looks pretty good. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to let a guest use it.

gonewiththerain · 06/09/2020 21:52

Asda towels are very good. Good prices too especially in the sale. Also have some Laura Ashley ones that have lasted over 15 years and are still really good

icelollycraving · 06/09/2020 22:12

I have White Company ones and Ikea.

NeedWineNow · 06/09/2020 22:37

Christy usually. I get them either from the Outlet shop at Ashford or TK Maxx. I've just bought a set with matching bath mat from Sainsbury's in their sale. I've washed them before use and they've come up really well.

A friend of mine swore by Primark's premium range.

ScribblingMilly · 06/09/2020 22:39

Dunelm Egyptian cotton - also put some in our holiday rental so have had hard use and are as good as new after a few years.

jolokoy · 06/09/2020 22:48

Christy from their outlet.

jackstini · 06/09/2020 22:51

Dunelm - always stay looking good for longer

Longdistance · 06/09/2020 23:03

Defo Sainsbury’s. I bought a small set there and they’re still lovely and fluffy two years down the line, like new 👌🏼

thegcatsmother · 06/09/2020 23:49

M&S, some were wedding presents in 1986 and are still going strong. I love the huge IKEA bath sheets as well.
