Medical certificate needed for travel

Just needed some advice RE travelling with covid going on. My son has been living abroad with family (South Asia) due to our housing situation which we have now sorted. I now need to go there to bring him back, but the requirement is to show a medical certificate proving that I am covid free, which must have been done within 72 hours prior to traveling. How can I obtain this when neither myself or anyone I've been around have shown any symptoms? I'm missing my son terribly and this is the main obstacle from me flying out this minute to bring him back.

I’m a nurse and we now swab most patients being admitted/coming to hospital 72 hrs prior. They get swabbed and then are supposed to self isolate as much as possible. That is, stay indoors, don’t go to shops/leave house or have people in the house/garden. Family that you live with is fine. Although if they are out and about for work maybe try to isolate from them at home if possible?
As far as I know that’s what is required. You don’t need to move out or anything. Your GP should be able to clarify this.
Good luck!

There are lots of private tests available specifically for travel purposes - a quick google will give you a list - they’re about £130 each

Op means she needs to get tested before flying out to get her son. I don't know who would test you before going

I too am wondering about this OP. I’ve read so many stories about results being late/lost. Hoping someone knowledgeable will be along!

The only way is to book a test with a private company that carries out Covid19 tests and provides the required certificate. It may be worthwhile contacting the relevant embassy/airline to see whether they have a list of approved testing companies. I believe London prices are around £170.

Thank you for the responses, those prices for testing hurt me a bit 😂 the Gov website for this particular country says that they need to see the certificate on arrival - no certificate can mean being taken away to a Gov run quarantine Confused
@Honorocarrollkelly when the patients have been swabbed, is there an opportunity to receive any paperwork to say that you're covid free?
@Fairineouf that's a good idea, I'll definitely look into that.
I was planning to go in March (gave birth in January and needed some time to make DD's passport) but it's now coming to the end of the year and I've had enough!
