Swimming lessons and social distancing

My just turned 4 year old and my 6 year old are starting swimming lessons this week, my 6 year old can't yet swim unaided but has had lessons before and is pretty confident. My 4 year old is a bit more unsure and has never had a swimming lesson. They've sent me the covid information which is all fine but say that if the children can't swim the teachers will be in the water with them but keeping distanced...if your child is nervous then a parent will need to assist from pool side.

Has anyone any experience of this set up since going back with covid regulations as I just can't quite work out how it will be and I'm a bit worried ds won't really know what to do and then may not want to do it!

DDs swim club has been back a few months the children social distance along the lane rope 2m apart when they finish each set to get their next instructions.

I'd imagine it will be similar, non swimmers are likely to be using noodles and being within standing height therefore the teacher can reach out and hold onto the noodle if necessary. They should/ will explain everything clearly to the children so try not to pass your worries on to your DC.

Thank you. I've not mentioned anything to the dc at all, and as ds hasn't had lessons before he won't know any different at least! Dd has but she won't be bothered. I just couldn't imagine how it would work with the ones that can't swim at all, swimming noodle makes sense though so that's reassuring Smile
