Good drying weather;
Pork pies or pasties from the butcher;
Afternoon naps (a bad habit, I know);
Quality tea and coffee;
Time off from work;
Slow but steady piano progress;
Clean clothes and towels.

@takeabrolly I'm grateful that you just reminded me about the half pack of chocolate digestives in the cupboard which I'm now going to enjoy with coffee Wink

DD snuggling up to watch a movie after days of teen moodiness Grin

Craftycorvid · 05/09/2020 17:46

Cwtch is probably my favourite word in welsh. I grew up on the welsh borders and we use it there too.

I’m thankful for having lovely parkland nearby - during lockdown it’s become my place for exercise and seeing friends and getting out in nature.

Having blackberries in the garden (blackberry jam!)

A holiday to look forward to - not what we’d necessarily have planned or where we might have intended to go, but somewhere nice and a change of scenery.

When both children are in bed and DH is at work, and the floors are swept and the dishwasher is on, and I sit down with a glass of wine in my comfy clothes and watch whatever I like on TV.

Ken Hom's chicken chow mein recipe with instant curry sauce from Farmfoods on top. It has no right to taste as nice as it does for the low calories.

When my son is making his baby sister laugh out loud. She giggles but he's the only one who can make her belly laugh like that.

The What We're Reading threads on Mumsnet. I've picked up so many fab book recommendations on there.

Podcasts.

Today, YouTube keeping youngest entertained (im floored with a bug atm). Hot tea and the fact it’s bedtime soon.

Usually I’ve more to be grateful for but I’m feeling shitty and just want to sleep.

Not all small things but this week I’ve been grateful for:

  • DH earning enough for me to be a sahm
  • mil tumour hasn’t spread
  • start of autumn
  • DD1 saying her first day or school was “absolutely epic”
  • making chutney for the first time
  • making apple and blackberry crumble and DD1 thanking me for making yummy food
  • DD1 sneaking into bed with me and DD2 so I woke up sandwiched by children
  • snog on the sofa with DH
  • clean sheets
  • getting back into a routine
Mummadeeze · 05/09/2020 19:42

Lots of TV programmes. Programmes like First Dates really make me feel uplifted and hopeful and I am thankful for that. I am also thankful that I chose the nearest secondary school over one further away for my DD after lots of deliberation now that there are restrictions for children travelling on the bus to school. I am thankful for my fluffy, warm bed socks that are very comforting. I am thankful that I re-discovered tennis after a break of 20 something years recently. I genuinely feel thankful for all kinds of small things all the time. It is the only way to live, especially at the moment.

BrandyandBabycham · 05/09/2020 19:46

Lovely thread! I’m lucky in that it never takes much to make me happy.
Seeing or preferably being in the sea
Spending time with my bunnies
DD11’s enthusiasm - really hope she never loses it!
The way DH makes me cry laughing
Sunshine
A cool breeze
Crisp clean sheets
Mon Wed & Fri when Corrie’s on!
Food!
A chat with my Mum
A clean house
My house in general - I feel so at home here

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 05/09/2020 19:53

A fresh cup of coffee first thing without having to ask.
Clean sheets.
Being welcomed home.
Cuddles with the dogs.
Someone else doing domestic chores, especially unprompted.
Flowers or chocolates!
Kind surprises.
