Back massage chair pad

Has anyone bought one of those chair pads which heat up and massage your back?
I've had a lot of back pain this week - just went one day and I wasn't doing very much when it happened. It's much improved now, but still a bit twingey.
I've been looking at them, but can't decide if they'll be any good.

Yes they are good. Mine is HoMedics from Amazon. The only possible snag is that your chair needs to be close enough to a power point for the plug. If that is a problem, there may be rechargeable versions available.

See an osteopath and nip it in the bud.
Also good are magnetic belts.
Mine has 16 magnets in it, I wear it each night

They are crude and can be a bit painful if you over use them but I find mine essential.

I have back problems and I use a 'massaging' seat pad in the passenger seat of the car when I have a flare-up. It doesn't have the rolling knobs, just 4 pairs of vibrating knobs from thighs to waist, and the option for heat as well.

The rolling knobs I do find therapeutic but the vibrating knobs are not particularly therapeutic. What they are good for, though, is pain-relief on journeys. They provide pain relief by overwhelming your brain with sensory signals, so it just shuts down that bit for a while and stops reporting pain from that area as well. When my back is bad, even after a short journey I struggle to straighten up when I get out of the car, and I hurt for ages afterwards. But with the vibrating seat pad I can cope with long-distance journeys of several hours, with minimal stiffness and no painful consequences.

I've tried out massage cushions that have rotating knobs. They are therapeutic if the knobs are in the right place for you, and if you find the pressure tolerable. I chose not to buy one for the car, because they are much bulkier and I doubted whether I would be able to sit on one for hours at a time. But I would absolutely have one on an armchair at home (if I had an armchair - only sofas here).

Thanks for that. I might give one a go.
I probably should see an osteopath, but I'm put off after my dh's descriptions of his visits to the chiropractor!

Any recommendations for a particular one?
I've looked at the Homedics (£150 on amazon) or a Snailax one at £79.

I have one from when Lidl had them in special buy in the aisle of randomness. It doesn't get used a lot but does get used when my back pain flares up and helps but it's a dangerous thing if you have to get up to answer the door quickly and get tangled up in the power cord and chair wheels etc!

@blobbyface
No I don’t like chiropractors either.
I much prefer an osteopath that does deep tissue massage.
Chiropractors tend to do the clicks and I don’t like them

Which bit hurts? I have a shiatsu shoulder massager that you can also use on your lower back, backs of your thighs etc. I love mine and have bought them for several people who love them too. I’ll find a link. Genuinely splendid.

The heating aspect is the best and it has different speed settings. The price goes up and down on amazon and having just found the link it’s a bargain at the moment.

I also had this one that was more like a chair that you velcroed to a chair but it was less flexible/adaptable and only really did up and down your back which was boring. My brother has pain in his thighs from a chri is issue and uses the shoulder one above under his thighs which he finds loosens them up and is very soothing.

Thanks for the suggestions. The pain is low back. I have an issue with my left hip too - that has been ongoing for a while. It's a muscular problem and I have exercises to do which I've let slip so need to get back on those!
