Lego?

LizzieMacQueen · 04/09/2020 10:03

Top Trumps, regular playing cards with a book of card games/tricks.

Depends a lot on what he's into.

What's he into? Different kids like different things.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 04/09/2020 16:30

Lego, but Technic. I still make these models at 60.

mumofpickles · 04/09/2020 16:45

Knex
Hex bugs
Scooter
In line skates
Heeleys
Slime kit and football bits are all on my 8yo birthday list

Spied · 04/09/2020 16:47

8yr old I know loves 'Gu jit zus' squishy superheroes.

DelurkingAJ · 04/09/2020 16:59

Ask the parents?

My DS (8 shortly) loves Lego and is after another Moomin book. He quite likes K’nex and is utterly unmoved by football but adores cricket.

Depends what he's into and how much you want to spend. I usually go up to about £20 for godchildren and a bit more for a family members. if it's your own child then I'm guessing you would spend more?
Lego
Things for whatever activities they do - i've had requests for sports kit, stuff for Scouts, swimming towels, parkrun wristbands, club hoodies etc.
Books or book tokens - he's probably at an age where having his own "money" to spend will be a novelty. A sweeping generalisation but boys tend to enjoy non-fiction books.
Clothes / PJs / Onesies
Theatre tickets or tickets for an attraction - may be a bit harder at the moment as you have to pre-book specific dates. Or a "voucher" for a day out together.
