Sore skin from using sanitary towels

I have been using always sanitary towels which are scented and I now have very itchy and sore private regions.

Is there a cream I can get to help with this? It feels
like my skin is burning. Should I get Sudocrem or
Is there something else that’s better ?

I don't know the answer but yes scarves sanitary tpwels are notorious for doing this ( Angry at the manufacturers).

I've always just bathed the area in cool water to soothe it

sorry for massive typos Hmm

@ColleagueFromMars thank you. I was hoping if I used a cream it would better quicker as have been using these for the last week with my bits getting itchier all the time.

Not scented are they? Scented ones irritate my skin. Bodyform are the only ones I like now.

I've always found sudocrem to be best. Apply liberally at night and it's usually much better by morning.

Could well be thrush due to the fragrance. I would try clotrimazole. In future natracare feel much nicer! Or you could consider cloth sanitary towels/period pants?

RowboatsinDisguise · 03/09/2020 16:07

I’d be careful with sudocrem if you’re still using sanitary towels (same as you should be with nappy rash) as if you use lots you’ll make the towels less absorbent which means more moisture next to the skin which could compound the problem.

Jayneisagirlsname · 03/09/2020 16:08

I have this with pads so I switched to cloth and now have no problems

Thatsthewonderof · 03/09/2020 16:10

Don’t use scented ones, they cause problems. Do you have a mild steroid cream you can use, as it should help (make sure you wash down below first). If not, get some Canesten at Pharmacy and use it!

Thanks, i finished my period yesterday so no longer wearing any. Just stinging all the way to my bottom.

I'd actually speak to the practice nurse before putting anything on it. That's quite a big area and you might need a prescribed cream.

In the mean time, I'd keep it dry and open to the air, if you can.

pinky987 · 03/09/2020 16:24

@QuestionableMouse I will try and speak to nurse but struggle getting to talk to anyone if you are not classed as urgent.

I had this before and used a bit of sudocrem and then moved to washables so I knew what was going on my delicate areas
