Hair removal for 11 year old

I need some help!
DD just starting secondary school and during the latter stages of lock down has developed underarm hair and is more aware of her leg hair.

I have no issue with her wanting to remove it, just more a case of wanting to do it right. I don’t recall being taught/shown - I probably stole my DMs razor and set to it 😂🙈

Does anyone have any suggestions for razors/gels/technique or anything that will make this a smooth (see what I did there 🙈) process for us both?!

Dd likes the olay razors with the little soap bars attached (so do i)

One of my daughters uses Veet on her legs and underarms and the other uses Gillette mens disposable razors for her underarms, she doesn't bother removing her leg hair, underarm hair irritates her.

Boots sugar wax and the cotton strips which come with it. Worth buying extra strips on amazon. Razor will thicken hair while the wax thins it out.

I'd just accept that there are going to be some nicks and cuts, the armpits are a bit of a skill.

Razor doesn't thicken hair. It may blunt the end to make it appear thicker but it doesn't change anything else about it

Men’s razors and conditioner for my 11 year old and me.

I pluck my underarm hairs, so that is an option ;) I used to use strips, they are easy to use.

For the legs I have always preferred waxing but at home is an hassle....

No it won't.

It just blunts the ends so it appears thicker and rougher when it grows back.

Why do prophet honk shaving make hair thicker? Hair is as thick as you genes make it? Running something externally over your skin can’t change that.

I bought battery operated razors for my DD's at that age, easy and safe. Dd1 still uses one as an adult, dd2 switched to wet shaving about 16

SnuggyBuggy · 03/09/2020 17:53

If shaving made hair thicker you'd get balding men shaving their scalps with ladies razors to encourage growth.

Didn’t even know they did battery operated razors!

While sugaring and waxing will stop the growth for longer, it really hurts. I wouldn’t go down that route for an 11 year old.

Veet only if you’re going to closely supervise and legs only - it’s easy to chemical burn yourself. Razor for underarms.

Xmasfairy86 · 03/09/2020 18:25

Oh... actually, mens shavers are battery operated?! Maybe I did know. Just never thought of using them myself 🤔

Yeah I'd reccomend one of the electric ones to start.

Harder to injure yourself and fairly quick.

Then later can always offer the ones with the bars etc.

Isadora2007 · 03/09/2020 18:29

Intuition blades that you don’t need gel for and just use in the shower or bath. My dad has been able to use since she was 7/8 and never cut herself.

bonbonours · 03/09/2020 18:31

My daughter just helped herself to my razor before I had the chance to advise her. We both use a reusable razor with replacement blades because plastic razors are crap environmentally speaking. She seems to do fine using it on armpits and legs, only cut herself once.

Disneydarlings · 03/09/2020 18:31

Gillette venus ones are good, they have sloe Vera strips and guards over the blade. Shaving gel which foams also helps with shaving.

That's a fantastic auto correct 🤣🤣🤣

When my DD was the same age i just got some hair removal cream... she also used to come threading with me for her eyebrow and upper lip as she was quite dark.
