Would you buy one of these?

If so how much would you pay. The fabrics are just ones I liked. They are quilted, lined and have a waterproof inner. They make great lunch bags and toiletry/cosmetics bags. I made the little one just for my travel skincare things but usually I just make the bigger ones.

For an idea of size there is a hand towel in the bigger one. I only use good quality fabrics.

I've made lots for friends but never charged.

There's no picture

HilaryBriss · 03/09/2020 10:12

I can't see what they are, should there be a photo?

kevinbacone · 03/09/2020 10:13

I would buy one. My only comment would be that I'd want the internal fabric to me a plain, light colour so I could easily see what was inside.

DonLewis · 03/09/2020 10:13

They're cute! Love a homemade product. Look very professional. How much?

Diverseduvet · 03/09/2020 10:14

Sorry x post. I wouldn't personally buy one, there not to my taste but I think they may be saleable

Bluntness100 · 03/09/2020 10:14

I’m sorry No, they look very impractical to me. Lunch boxes and make up /toiletry bags need to be wipe down able for me.

They are also slightly twee. Sorry op.

blindmansbluff · 03/09/2020 10:15

No. I like my bags to be totally enclosed.

ChaChaCha2012 · 03/09/2020 10:15

No, and definitely not with a handmade label stuck to it.

It is the kind of thing that sells well at craft fairs though, but probably not the best year for them. Etsy has lots of things like them, worth a browse for pricing and competition.

HollowTalk · 03/09/2020 10:15

They make great lunch bags and toiletry/cosmetics bags.

How on earth can one bag do both of those things?

steppemum · 03/09/2020 10:15

They are very pretty, but I would not buy them.
Why? 1. shape, for a lunch bag etc, it is too fat and round. It is not a useful shape for me.

  1. It doesn't zip shut.

Sorry.

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/09/2020 10:16

The others I've made do have a light, plain lining. This is the inside of this one.

Would you buy one of these?

Or if you know an Avon seller, they might sell them alongside their products, to make up gift sets.

SallySolardel · 03/09/2020 10:17

They don't look like they close and fasten, so no I wouldn't buy one. They also don't really look the right shape for a lunch bag.

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/09/2020 10:18

Well obviously you don't use the same one as a lunch bag AND a toiletry bag Hmm.

They look really well made but I don’t think I would buy one personally.
As another PP said for a lunch bag I would want a zip and something I could wipe clean easily.
Sorry, but I don’t think I would use them for toiletries either.
You are obviously very skilled though, maybe tweak the design to something more practical if you want to sell them.

Imissmoominmama · 03/09/2020 10:24

@blindmansbluff- I think they are- there’s a drawstring at the top.

OP, I like them a lot, but I also think a wipe clean interior would be more practical for both those uses.

BigRedBoat · 03/09/2020 10:27

They look really well made, they're not quite my cup of tea with the fabric choices but I think plenty of people would like them. I think it would be good to promote them as having a clear purpose rather than 'general small bag'. At the moment I don't think it would be great for taking things anywhere as it doesn't appear to fasten but it also doesn't quite work as storage basket/bin because of the handles, I would have a think what you envisage them being used for (handbag/storage/travel accessory) and try and sell them with a specific purpose.

DianaT1969 · 03/09/2020 10:27

I think if you tweak them to hold baby paraphernalia they might sell well on Etsy.
Possibly to hold knitting as another gift idea.
Also, USA colours with stars to the interior for the American market. Not as lunch bags or toiletries though. I think we want different shapes, fasteners and ability to wipe down for those.

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/09/2020 10:31

They do have wipe clean interiors and they have drawstring fastenings. The fabrics are just what I wanted to use up. All the ones I've made are being used as lunch bags so 🤷🏻‍♀️.

They're pretty but I wouldn't buy one. If I wanted a lunch or toiletry bag I'd buy something more functional.

Bluntness100 · 03/09/2020 10:42

I think they are just a bit impractical op. They certainly don’t look wipe clean. They do look well made though.

Most make up or toiletry bags are zip close and in either leather or plastic, lunch boxes are usually hard or firmer shell because they carry drinks etc in them, and are also usually plastic with a firm closure. I’m struggling to think of who would carry one of these about with their lunch and drink in it.

As said though they are well made and could be used for something like holding hair accessories, like a basket.🤷‍♀️

BigRedBoat · 03/09/2020 10:55

I didn't realise from the picture they had drawstring closures, I thought that was just something in the bag to show the size. In that case I definitely think they would be really good as knitting/crochet project bags. If you did them in fabric that would appeal to small girls unicorn/mermaid/narwhals/polka dot etc they would be great as bags for hair bows, if you did could choose a letter on the side for personalisation I think they would be really popular (if the price is right of course).

steppemum · 03/09/2020 10:56

I agree with marketing them directly. Craft bags? Knitting bags?
