I would really like an opinion on something as I can’t get an answer anywhere else.
We had referrals over low attendance and medical issues, investigated (more than once). Actually really supportive social workers who saw things objectively
Reports concluded : no risk, no concerns etc so all was fine or so we thought. Once completed we were told not able/allowed to contact the social worker
No action no plans etc just discharged from the service each time as everything is ok we are doing the best we can in the circumstances and although it was a bit stressful we thought it’s best to just engage fully and things worked out or so we thought
The report was sent with an additional page - the sw manager had put about safeguarding from ‘further harm’ if ever similar issues arise in future (these are medical issues that are lifelong and variable so it’s a possibility similar could arise)
I’m wondering is this fair to put this clause in (although I know they need to cover themselves?) and what actually would happen if there is ever another referral-it seems that there are reports proving no harm yet a manager has cited further harm and what could that mean for us if something like low attendance triggers another referral ?
Also further harm implies harm has already taken place when it hasn’t and all investigations found no harm
Is this usual ? It just seems quite unfair and inaccurate and not sure exactly where to go with this ?
Should we ask for this managers statement to be amended ? Or is it just what gets put as standard yet the wording does imply harm
