It's my dc first day back to school. Up until last night I was excited for them, now I can't sleep and my head is filled with worries.

Anyone else awake due to this?

Not surprised you were on edge. It is an emotional transition for mums and I think we need to factor that in.

It is a very strange thing to adjust to isn't it, sometimes they need you massively and other times skip off without a look back.

Even at fifteen!

I have to restrain myself and bite my lip, checking if she has got face mask, pencil case pen etc. she gets annoyed if I ask sometimes. (only once)

But then more than once she is out the door and then twenty minutes later the door bell rings and she is back having forgotton face mask and or house key or something or other.

So its a bit like being back up in the background. Weird i think.

And then of course we are all having to be on 'stand by' in case we need to go into self isolation.

Thank you for starting this thread, it helps.

The tiredness is starting to hit me now. On a plus note my dc went in very happily today.
Let's hope it lasts!

I’ve just walked past my local school and looked in and watched the children running around in the playground in small numbers having a great time. They certainly looked like they were pleased to be back. I would be a worrier too.
