Where do you find is the best to buy school uniform?
I have boys so we get through quite a lot!!
I do tend to buy from Asda but also like Sainsbury's Tu.

Any other recommendations? Interested to hear if any reviews from Aldi's range.

buying the cheapest isn't always the most economical. When I bought asda uniform it wouldn't last long. the trousers go at the knees quickly, the polo shirts collars deteriorate and the whole thing looks very scruffy after a term, and the whole lot is only fit for rags and can't be used again by a younger child. if I paid the extra and bought M&S it was much more robust and still looked fine once outgrown by the eldest child and could be handed down to the next child.

this is related to the attached theory of economic unfairness described by the late great Sir Terry Pratchett.

I generally buy from M&S - eldest’s school are quite relaxed on uniform rules, and so I could buy any trousers the right colour. M&S do a cotton range, and I buy those. I’d hate to sit all day in scratchy uncomfy polyester, and I’d rather not make my children do it wherever possible.

M&S also have nice touches on shirts (no idea if anywhere else do - I’m in M&S for the trousers, and shirts are a reasonable price, so I buy them!) like Velcro for the top button, and cuffs which don’t need undoing - both my younger children loved these. There’s also an accessible range, which really helped with my eldest.

Agree that polo shirts (and ‘proper’ shirts) last the full year, if not more. Eldest has had polo shirts in use for more than a year, and I have shirts which my middle child used for 2/3 years (very slow grower!) and my youngest is now only just growing out of after using for 18 months - possibly more expensive to start with, but that’s value I can’t complain about!

I find Lidl shirts very good, they wash nicely and have remained a bright white. They last longer than a year as I noticed when I was sorting uniform for this year DS had been wearing some for a couple of years and will be kept to pass down to DS2.

I buy trousers / skirts / shirts from M&S. They always seem to last well despite my kids being the type to roll down hills or do rugby tackles in their uniform.

We only have to buy trousers and socks, as the rest comes from the uniformer, but I have definitely found M&S to be better than supermarkets. The trousers come in a wider variety of fits and wash/tumble dry much better. The sock also don’t shrink, so overall, it works out cheaper.

I bought Lidl polo shirts in about Jan/Feb. Worst bit of uniform I've had... They creased as soon as soon as they saw the washing machine and I would spend hours (it seemed) ironing them.
The uniform I've bought from Sainsbury's, Asda and M&S has lasted until outgrown. Skirts usually suitable for handing down.

I usually get the trousers and socks from
M&S, they seem to fit and wear well. John Lewis ones went bobbly. Supermarket ones I found a bit thin. Except I found some better trousers at the uniform shop for my son who's now in secondary (better material and with a hidden zip fit bus pass or coins).

Our uniform comes from Sainsburys these days, used to be Next or M&S but Sainsburys stuff washes well and is generously sized So why pay more.
