Basic web design resource?

Agwen · 02/09/2020 17:21

I need to create some online "training" - eg "here is a diagram of how we do things and a video about the process. Now respond to the following question using the drop down list to select your answer so we can check you understand"

Can anyone recommend a resource that might help me? I have linkedin learning for example but have no idea how to phrase what I'm asking for!

(As you can tell my existing experience is zero in this area!)

Any recommendations gratefully received.

Is it for use internally, or will it be available on the 'external' internet?

Agwen · 02/09/2020 17:28

@Chairbear- just internally. Don't think anyone would let me loose on anything for the public with my skills Grin

Does anyone know whether the sort of thing I'm after is a basic skill or is it a bit more advanced? If the latter then I might rethink- my boss would be grateful if we could do this inhouse rather than outsourcing it but my time to develop the skills are limited.

I just did a powerpoint and Zoom video (you can share screen) which I recorded and put in dropbox.

I swear there are online quiz makers if you don't want to use google forms.

Survey Monkey is one I've heard of. I've never used it myself though so I've no idea if it's any good.

Agwen · 02/09/2020 19:55

We need to create something that can go on the company intranet training site, accompanied by an assessment so that there is evidence that the member of staff has met the required level of proficiency (heavily regulated industry).

I like the idea of a presentation that could be voiced by me and then accompanied by a survey monkey- that would be a lot easier than the solution proposed at present!

YouTube is great for tutorials! Literally type in what you're after. I built a full website with tutorials

UntamedWisteria · 02/09/2020 19:58

Zoom has a very good webinar package, which also includes a survey - worth checking out.

What about using Microsoft Sway? You can embed quizzes into it using Microsoft Forms.

I think Sway is free to anyone, not sure about Forms. www.Sway.office.com

People can access it online from any device once you share the link. It's pretty easy and does the formatting for you.

The results of a Microsoft Forms survey would be emailed to you so you'd have your evidence.

You can use text, images (as stills or slideshows or sliders), and videos as well as embedding other stuff like Forms in Sway.

You add a "card", tell it what kind of content you're adding (e.g. Text or image), full out the card and then Sway puts them all together and makes it look good for you.

So much easier than PowerPoint! And it has an option to format it as a slideshow like PowerPoint . I was a bit dubious at first but now I've been using it a while I am converted!

I think it can be as easy or advanced as you want to make it

You could create something in excel that has drop downs and set it up with some formatting and macros to look nicer? It would be a link rather than built into the site though

What are you creating the site on? I've made a few sites for work and we have always had some kind of software to create the basic site and I could edit the code

Do you want it to be free or is your organisation willing to pay?

Theworldisfullofgs · 02/09/2020 20:12

Sorry, to be clearer for a platform that does what you want

E.g. record a PowerPoint presentation with a voice over, upload it and have a section with questions that you can get participants to answer.
