Help needed - shoes to fit orthotics inserts in

HopingForGoodWeather · 02/09/2020 10:41

My 12 year old dd needs shoes that she can fit a set of orthotic inserts in. She needs practical, sturdy, dog walking shoes. We live very rurally, so ideally want to order online, so free delivery/returns would be a bonus. Does anyone have any recommendations they could share? Many thanks in advance.
I also wasn't sure where to post this, so if there is a better topic, please point me in the right direction.

Doc Martens are usually a good choice. Schuh usually have a good selection and their delivery and returns policy is pretty good iirc

Thank you, i will start my search there.

My daughter has this too - i understand your pain! Agree with DMs. I've had reasonable success with finding shoes from Start rite and Geox (not sure if they sell the sort of shoes you need). Personally I wouldnt bother with Clarks - i've never managed to get a pair of shoes that work with the inserts from there. Schuh do have a great returns policy, so always no harm with trying there (think you may have to pay to return if you cant take them back to the store, so worth checking)

Hotter have some not frumpy walking boots and trainer styles that have removable insoles to fit orthotics

Mountain warehouse own brand boots are reasonably priced, they vary in style and sturdiness. Mine were £70 and rated for mountains

My daughter is same and has very narrow feet too. It’s important to have ankle support. We’ve used mainly Timberlands for winter, converse hi-tops for summer, and James Inglis (expensive, but most of the brands on their website suit orthotics) for dress shoes.

Thank you so much everyone. You've given me some ideas of where to direct my search. Now the fun (!) begins.

I had these as a teen and loved that fitted in my DMs.

I wear Skechers with my orthotics and their insoles are removable or only stuck on with light adhesive.
