One of my Dn 19 has spoken to me. She doesn’t feel comfortable talking to her mum so as spoken to me. She’s getting pain in her side around the time of ovulation quite bad she says. She doesn’t have heavy periods or painful ones she says. Is this worth going to the doctor or is it quite common?

I get this around ovulation and have PCOS. I’ve always assumed it was connected, though I’ve never thought to look into it. Tbh I always forget that it happened once the pain’s gone so I’ve never followed it up.

I used to get quite Sharp twinges around ovulation. I have pcos. Seem to have stopped after I got pregnant / gave birth though (nearly 6 years ago now)

Endometriosis could be something to consider too.

I get ovulation pain and as far as I'm aware (in 40s with 3 dc so time to find out) I haven't got PCOS.

I've always had ovulation pain, as well as a generally sicky feeling around the same time. Can last up to 48 hours. I don't have pcos though.

I have pcos and get ovulation pain. It's a really sharp pain that stops me in my tracks then a dull ache which lasts quite a while.

I’ve always had ovulation pain since I’ve been about 13 I’m 29 now. I had an ultrasound to check my ovaries, everything looked normal so the doctor said it was just one of those things and offered going on the pill to stop ovulation.

Ovulation can cause ovulation pain. No PCOS or endometriosis or anything else and I find ovulation quite painful. Being on the combined pill (or another hormonal contraception that prevents ovulation) will help.

I get hideous ovulation pain but no PCOS or endometriosis.

Gilmoregoals · 01/09/2020 21:50

I am currently suffering ovulation pain, no pcos or anything else. I only have symptoms when off the pill. Thinking about going back on, just because it's rubbish having ovulation pain and period pain every month.
Worth your niece having a chat with her gp for some options?
