Would you buy a house without a garden?

Excellent area, new build so no need to do much work, close to a park and a Main Street. But no garden? (Two kids 4&8)? On a new estate with a small park and plenty of kids.

I live in Scotland so whilst the garden is nice for bbqs etc we don’t actually get the opportunity that get out and sit.

For the same price you can get a house with a garden but you sacrifice location.

No, I love to sit in garden and drink coffee in mornings and wine in evening when it is warm. DC plays in garden every day unless pouring with rain. You may find it harder to sell on with no garden.

My problem with no garden would be lack of washing line. I enjoy my garden and gardening but not having somewhere to line dry my laundry would be a deal breaker for me.

Define garden. We aren't gardeners, so have a house with a bed at the front filled with plants, and two patios at the rear of the house, which can be prettier up with pots, and one of the patios has the table, chairs and sunshade. That said, there is green space and a play area in the village for children, and we are very close to open countryside.

The lack of a lawn wasn't a problem for us, and I suspect, won't be when we come to sell.

@thegcatsmother a lawn doesn’t equal garden for me. Any private outdoor space (that isn’t a driveway) would count as a garden for me. I’ve seen lots of gardens on social media that are patios with pots of colourful flowers and gardens that are a winding path through wildflowers and other plants with a little seating area (no lawn) In fact I think lawns are starting to look a bit out of date.

If you have the opportunity to buy a house, then I would absolutely buy a house with a garden. Otherwise, I would just buy a nice big flat instead.
