Anyone else have DC that NEVER stop talking?

I love the bones off DS but my god he can talk my ear off! Non stop from the minute he wakes up he's asking questions and talking at me. Anyone else?

Yep.... And still does at 13.

Swopped kids with a friend once for a 20 minute car journey as the kids thought it'd be fun. At the end my friend got out and said "doesn't she ever pause for breath?!?" Grin I'd had a lovely, peaceful journey Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/08/2020 10:13

Even when we're watching a film I get a running commentary! Grin

I acknowledge at times when growing up I was that child. Sorry mum if you ever are on MN.

That was me as a kid. Total chatterbox.
One horrible Auntie used to go on about it and shame me about my constant talking. Didn't stop me for long though, but did put a massive dent in my self esteem.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 31/08/2020 10:17

Yes. Usually about bloody Minecraft. I feel like telling him to shut up but instead I just give general a-ha and oh yea type sounds.

Namechangr9000 · 31/08/2020 10:22

My DS makes sound effects the whole day. It's just background noise now. I know he is ill (or creating some catastophe) if there is silence.

Fortheloveofbob · 31/08/2020 10:27

Urghhhh this is my biggest bugbear. I have a little cousin like this - his parents spend So Much Time saying things like "not everyone wants to hear every thought you have" and "read the room" and "do you need to say that out loud" etc etc. It's getting better, but it's been a long road. I think the current trend of trying to never ever ever impinge on your children's personalities in any way is not on the whole a good one. Some children need a little squashing - no one wants to be friends with the kid who never pauses for breath. And if they do their parents don't want him round for tea.

allfalldown47 · 31/08/2020 10:29

Yep, one that literally never draws a breath and the other is virtually silent. Undoubtedly has given up getting a word in Confused

Pipandmum · 31/08/2020 10:30

Oh yes. My son never stopped talking. He is still a talker at 17.

Bollss · 31/08/2020 10:33

Yep. Continuously. Even if he's playing a game on his tablet with his headphones in I get a running commentary. If he's really engrossed with playing with his toys he won't talk to us about it but will be talking as he plays iyswim. He is literally only quiet when he is asleep.

LupinsNotLilys · 31/08/2020 10:35

Yep

I've told him he'll either be a commentator or a politician

coastergirl · 31/08/2020 11:12

Yes. Lots of it doesn't even make sense. I'm exhausted.

skankingpiglet · 31/08/2020 11:12

I have 2 DCs like this. For the last 5.5 months I've had a wall of sound coming at me for 13/14hrs a day, 7 days a week. One verbalises her entire train of thought, and the other produces a mixture of chatter and singing at a volume that would give the impression that she is trying to communicate with someone 100m down the road. I have tinnitus and feel completely over-stimulated by the time they go to bed.
I'm really looking forward to the silence next week.

MsMiaWallace · 31/08/2020 11:15

Yes DS who's 8.
Constantly about his bloody IPad games!

OverTheRainbow88 · 31/08/2020 11:19

My 4 year old! And will talk to/ at anyone!!!!! He cornered someone in a park for 20 min the other day taking about diggers l

Wholeholes · 31/08/2020 11:23

Yes. Constant stream of his thoughts and a lot of utter drivel.
It’s a shame because the interesting things he says are hidden in amongst it all.
I do tell him to stop and think whether he needs to say what he is.
He can talk to ANYONE. Which is a good skill I guess and old ladies love him!

Chrestomanci3 · 31/08/2020 11:25

Yes. Both dc are like this. One seems incapable of watching something they like without talking all the way through it/repeating a good line, which I just heard as I was sitting next to them at the time. The other likes to talk (in detail) about some idea they talked at me about earlier, but this one is oh so slightly different, so they feel the need to enumerate them both again. I want to be interested in what they are telling me as it obviously interests them, but it is just CONSTANT.

Blueuggboots · 31/08/2020 11:27

Yep. And like @TwoZeroTwoZero, it's usually about minecraft.....😭😭😭😭😭

LongBlobson · 31/08/2020 12:20

@allfalldown47 it's the same in this house! Younger one doesn't shut up (and we've tried...), older one has given up trying.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/08/2020 12:27

If I don't respond he goes on and on until I do. "Look how big that tree is! Isn't it? ISN'T IT???" Grin

@TrustTheGeneGenie exactly the same as mine. Even if he's playing a game on the switch he's talking at the game.

Witchend · 31/08/2020 12:28

Oh yes! The "Wet weather Wimbledon commentator phase".

They do grow out of it. I have days when it's good to get a "go away" grunt out of one of them. Grin

lucysmam · 31/08/2020 12:32

Yep! My 10yo dd talks all the time. Usually about Minecraft, often about whatever random creature she's found and wants to google (harvestman spider yesterday, moth this morning), sometimes an actual proper conversation.

She even follows me to the loo sometimes to carry on. I send her away so I can pee in peace!

Dd1 is almost 14; she seems to have grown out of it...for now!

Zaphodsotherhead · 31/08/2020 12:33

That was me. Still is. ADD, can't help it.

But my god, I even irritate myself...

NothingIsWrong · 31/08/2020 12:35

Yup. One that doesn't even shut up when he's asleep sometimes...
