Newborn gift ideas

Would love any small gift ideas for a newborn please. The family are going through financial hardship so planning to mainly give money or vouchers so they can get what they need but still wanted to give them a token gift. Any good nice ideas.m? The mother recently said she has had lots of clothes given to her so preferably not clothing. Thanks

If not clothes (although you can arguably never have enough vests) then maybe muslin squares, spare nice quality sheets for the crib/Moses basket, or baby sleeping bags - those are great but can be pricey. I have a 2 month old and this time around I bought myself these little waterproof squares that can go in the washing machine and be used as mattress protectors, changing mats or on-the-go play mats. Cheap as chips and I love them!

If toys then not teddies but those little cloth/ crinkly books (ikea used to do lovely ones) are good for small babies.

Books, like the Jolly Postman, hungry Caterpillar etc will be read and reread. We got some as gifts and they were enjoyed for years. Also wooden toys like cars, trains etc as they last forever.
