I was annoyed that summer had gone so fast.

I hated it. The thought of it usually put a dampener on the last couple of weeks of the school summer holiday.

I was frequently picked on at school, so home was my safe haven.

Loved it always. I was(am) a bookworm, and we got new text book at the start of the year, so couldn't wait to read them all, except for maths one.

Passmethecrisps · 30/08/2020 21:48

I loved it. Lived in the middle of nowhere and if I wasn’t on my own (when older) I was with my granny trying not to breath to loudly in case I interrupted the snooker

Neither.

I was sad summer and beach time was over but also excited to go supermarket and buy school supplies and see my friends at school. I liked school but also liked holidays Grin

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/08/2020 21:50

I absolutely dreaded it. I dreaed going to school every day though mostly because of bullying so felt sick at the thought of going everyday from the age of around 8.

LadyCatStark · 30/08/2020 21:50

Dreaded it.

KindKylie · 30/08/2020 21:51

I loved it. Loved the new shoes, bag, pencil case and uniform feeling! Loved getting back and having a new teacher and classroom, being out in new sets and groups and seeing everyone.

School was a relatively drama free painless experience in a happy and secure childhood. I know how lucky that makes me.

Nodney · 30/08/2020 21:56

I quite liked it. New shoes and coat and all those new exercise books!

Witchend · 30/08/2020 21:59

I enjoyed school mainly, certainly more than my siblings, and I did look forward to seeing my friends. For some reason we very rarely met up during the summer holiday, although term time we would meet up regularly at weekends etc.

However I loved the long summer holiday. We normally got 9 weeks, and I really needed it to recharge. Never found I got bored, as there were always things to do, and never wanted it to end.

So neither really. Looked at it as an inevitable part of life. Of course having Christmas to look forward to probably helped.

I dreaded the first day.
Every year the first night before school i would vomit with nerves. As soon as i got there and knew my class and teacher i was fine. I loved school and all the teacher were so kind- so it really was bizarre.

MarshaBradyo · 30/08/2020 22:05

Dreaded it boarding school, especially early years

Serena1977 · 30/08/2020 22:07

Dread and more so this year.

Groundhogdayzz · 30/08/2020 22:11

Always dreaded going back, hated the end of summer/Sunday night feeling and no idea why. I had friends, and did great academically, just found school really boring and tiresome. I remember people telling me school was the best years of your life....it definitely wasn’t!

ApplesinmyPocket · 30/08/2020 22:17

Dreaded it. I was at a girls' grammar and bright but I still hated school. I used to dream of being home all day, safe and surrounded by books.

ChavvySexPond · 30/08/2020 22:19

September is the best time of the year. I still love it.

MarshaBradyo · 30/08/2020 22:20

I can’t really remember for primary. But years 7 to 9 when I got dropped off to board, my goodness that Sunday night feeling has stayed with me. I avoid travelling on a Sunday night for work now. I dreaded it. Plus on top of it all was the stress of finding out who I was sharing with in a dorm.

MarshaBradyo · 30/08/2020 22:21

But having read last post I actually love September.

Wholeholes · 30/08/2020 22:24

Excited-new year, new stationery, comparing tans Grin...
I can still remember the thrill of buying new clothes when I started sixth form. Omg it was the most exciting time! I can still feel the scratch of one wooly cardigan and remember it every time I get that autumn smell!

Cattenberg · 30/08/2020 22:24

I didn’t dread it, but I felt sad. I loved the summer holidays. Before the summer term finished, I made my own calendar, similar to an advent calendar, to count down the days until the holiday started.

happyfeet245 · 30/08/2020 22:57

Dreaded it and my birthday is this week so the thought of returning to school always ruined it for me.

Sandytoes86 · 30/08/2020 23:05

Dreaded it, boarding school from 7.

Zolaaaaa · 30/08/2020 23:06

Dread!!! Summer always went so fast! I was always happy to see my friends though

areyoubeingserviced · 30/08/2020 23:23

Like some of the other posters- Didn’t dread or love going back. I loved studying, and had friends ,I just didn’t like school.

Ishihtzuknot · 30/08/2020 23:56

I loved primary school so I didn’t mind going back, but I loved the summer holidays and all my good childhood memories are related to those times. By secondary school I hated school full stop so I lived for the holidays just to unwind and see my friends properly.

thewhitechair · 31/08/2020 00:00

I liked it for all the new stuff- shoes, stationary, bag etc. I’d usually have new school year resolutions too. But after about a week the novelty of being back would wear off and I’d be bored again. I didn’t hate school but didn’t love it.
